Naah - there is a tradition of Newsround presenters moving to Breakfast...
Juliet Morris, Julie Etchingham both presented Newsround before moving to Breakfast.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy moved from Newsround to Newsnight, and then moved to News 24 to partner Val Sanderson as the original 1200-1600 team (Including the Active UK and Active World strands - but no-one will remember them!)
Incidentally Newsround is a strange hybrid programme. It uses a News Resources studio crew, but the production team is from Childrens' I believe. Until relatively recently the programme was directed by a National News director - but more recently the programme producer has moved to directing as well. (Originally Newsround used BBC News correspondents much more than they do now, now that they have more of a dedicated team of their own reporters...)
BTW Does anyone remember Newsround 24? It ran 1600-1700 on News 24 Sunday afternoons, and used to be a 'best of the weeks' Newsround - normally presented by Chris Rogers (now at Sky), though Lizo and Kate also did some.
I have an edition of it on tape actually for some reason, found it the other day. From the lovely BBC News 24 soft area.
Also what happened to Interactive (was that what it was called?) presented by Christopher Price, News 24's answer to Sky's Your Call? They could pick up a few viewers by starting it again, used to be one of the best shows on Sky News but now its gone.
Oh, BTW, what was Active UK and Active World? Seems to ring a bell for some reason.

I can remember it being plugged constantly on newsround but I dont think it was a big success.

Originally - this is a long time ago now so my memory may well be wrong during 1200-1600 :
There were two back-half hours with 15 mins of business, a back-half hour of UK regional news (Active UK) and a back-half hour of World news (Active World). These Active strands were single-headed from the sofa-set. They were called 'Active' because there was a theory, that like Interactive, they would have a viewer feedback element... Never really seemed to happen that...
Active UK was renamed UK Today and then became the sustaining simulcast programme to replace the regions on BBC One digital when the BBC finally launched a digital satellite and terrestrial service. (News 24 launched before digital as an analogue cable channel!)
Yes I do seem to remember that. As you say it was a long time ago, I remember when it was renamed as UK Today (and UK Tonight) but my memories of Active UK and World seem to be a bit sketchy, I dare say there is something on one of my many tapes.
My Dad who fixes TV's and video's used to test the video's by recording off analogue cable (normally on News 24) but much of his recordings got taped over.
(Almost) all of this is before I got digital, but I do remember seeing Newsround 24 when I first got it on Sunday afternoons, and UK Tonight with that weird fireworks logo. It also used to be presented from right in the middle of the newsroom for the afternoon bulletins and was really pretty dodgy.

Ah Yes - the old barstool newsroom camera!
The 1330 and 1830 bulletins were live simulcasts with News 24. The Breakfast, 1525, 2128 and weekend bulletins were pre-recorded. The links were recorded from a camera (with self-op autocue - you could often see the words scrolling on the PC behind the presenter!) and then edited on an Avid along with the reports.
When the 1330 and 1830 bulletins became standalone and were presented from N6 the pre-recorded links also moved downstairs. (For a while the breakfast and weekend pre-rec links were recorded in a small CSO studio more normally used for pre-recorded interviews, and down-the-line interviews for the regions)

Wasn't there a bit of a controversy about that at the time? Something about them calling up various experts and then introducing them as if
they're
the ones who phoned in. It was the time when News 24 was only avaliable on cable, though.
