Election Your Call @ 2:55 Sky News - Bob Friend & Anna Botting (WHO ELSE!?)
They were writing notes on an piece of paper to each other while taking calls from viewers. As Anna would try to get his attention, she would write somin & underline it rapidly! Then he would do similiar & so on.

I wonder that they write?
'Fancy a pint or two after the programme?'!
SZ
Sub Zero
Or
'Look at that spot on that woman, how wierd'
Jokes aside I think it is technical notes, like 'You're in Camera 3 when we go on'
Or love letters! They should show us, it's almost as annoying as newsreaders talking after a buletin, what do they say? Aaarrgghh!

I don't think they ever say anything - it's all a bit of cunning miming!!

'true'
I wonder if they swear!
I don't think they mime, as they shuffle thier papers, and you would hear that.

He he
That's probably why there are never two newsreaders of the same sex on alone together - they'd make comments like 'cor - did you see the legs on no.2 cameragirl' or 'I like that Huw - do you think he's a goer' .... <cough> excuse me - brainmelt mode.
Years ago at the beeb I got to hear Sue Lawley talking to Nick Witchell as the closing music played on the six o'clock news. She said 'Well, that seemed alright. Yes? No?' and he didnt answer, he just laughed! She said in an interview that deaf viewers would write in to comment about what they could lip read, and after that she wouldnt make any comments until they were off air!

I have seen Sian Williams 'ticking' something on a script, just after the intro music.
Is Nicholas Witchell the only newsreader who doesn't talk to the sports presenter on BBC Weekend News, after the programme has finished??
I don't think he has any sense of humour at all!

Why do newsreaders need papers? Everything is on autocue these days, and though Autocue isn't 100% reliable, it is 100% environmentaly friendly! It takes 7 trees just to make one peice of A4 paper!!

THE AUTOCUE can go wrong very often. Also, when BBC has electricity probs - Huw Edwards relied on paper. Paper also has details for live interviews, with notes on.
It also carries details of BREAKING NEWS. Behind the Sky presenters, they have a printer, printing out the latest info.
