BTW, Reporting Scotland's bulletins all come from a small desk in the corner of the newsroom, rather than the actual studio. No beige (or otherwise) backdrops or video walls, no wood/glass desk...Is RS unique for this?

As far as i'm aware, Newsline NI does this also for the shorter bulletins. the Newsroom has been recently decorated to incoporate the Corporate make-over and the side Newsline banner has been removed.
Listen!
Big phil (and I) wish to know what SOFTWARE PACKAGE you need to buy to go about MAKING the same picture as this, or one very similar.
They don't use PAINT, so what do they use?
'Listen!'? Do you have to be quite so demanding and shout at people? The software package they use is unlikely to be commercially available but substitutes that knockup a similar effect may be.

An interesting explanation, re: Newsnight Scotland.
But the newsroom camera is used for all RS bulletins except the 6.30 one, so the Newsnight explanation doesn't necessarily make sense. I think the Newsnight Scotland logo is just a stick-on part of the set - it doesn't take that long to assemble.
Does BBC Scotland perhaps put out bulletins on digital that might use the main studio?
AFAIK the only times the main studio are used are for the 6:30 bulletin and Newsnight Scotland. The first time they broadcast from the Newsroom was for Newsline Scotland on BBC Choice which was @10leaving it too tight to build the Newsnight set. Then they extended it to all the others too - I wish I knew why, but I believe N. Ireland does the same kind of thing.
In relation to the reporting scotrland newsroom bullitins they use it for EVERY broadcast except 6.30 weeknights. I live in the Broders and have to put up with it's rubbishness
Look North (Newcastle) does it's bullitins from the edge of the desk, showing half the screen or a yellow wall. why doesn't RS do something like this even if nor for the 10 o'clock one

Actually, the newsroom studio has been used by BBC Scotland for all bulletins except the 6.30pm for years - long before Newsnight Scotland or Newsline Scotland came into being. It was first used with the blue and purple titles, which came in at the start of November 1997.
