Thanks to their staggered starting times, I saw the opening titles to all three of these programs on BBC2 this afternoon (Mon). All I have to say is WOW! I never thought I'd say this about BBC News, but the titles are fantastic! Much better than other regional news and even better than the main news due to the amount of activity and the speed (a bit faster than the others I think). Newsline and Reporting Scotland have a slight edge over Wales Today, but even the music is great!

Why can't NorthWest Tonight (and other regions) be this good? Anyone else agree?

Yes, I agree, I like Reporting Scotland and Newsline's but I'm not as keen on Wales Today, its a bit boring.

Yeah. You should hear NEWSLINE EXTRA. It has two beats at the top of the titles, sounds very good.

So does Newsline now - they changed it a while ago. It will be appearing on TV Home shortly!

Here's an image of Reporting Scotland's titles:

How would I go about creating an image like that? What packages would I need? I'd love to be able to do some really good images for my website like this.

No no no no no! I mean actually to draw something similar using a software package! Anyone know which are good for images which could look like the one above?

I think NEWSLINE beats all the others:)

I think Reporting Scotland's titles are excellent, but since they switched to two presenters on the main 6.30pm edition, they have only been using the short sting titles instead of the full track.

But for some reason, they still use the full version of the title for the short bulletin at lunchtime. Go figure...

BTW, Reporting Scotland's bulletins all come from a small desk in the corner of the newsroom, rather than the actual studio. No beige (or otherwise) backdrops or video walls, no wood/glass desk. I can't think of any other part of BBC news output that doesn't come with the standard-issue corporate style desk, graphics and backdrop. Is RS unique for this?

IF Newsnight Scotland is still on BBC Two, then Reporting Scotland can't use that studio at 10:25 because the studio has been changed to include the Newsnight Scotland logo on the desk... correct me if I'm wrong though.

Big phil (and I) wish to know what SOFTWARE PACKAGE you need to buy to go about MAKING the same picture as this, or one very similar.
They don't use PAINT, so what do they use?
