Great looking cockup at 6:15. After Fiona had read her 'coming up' and halfway through the sports woman doing hers, they started to play the Sting (before regional optouts). The sting cut off the sports coming up, and then suddenly into the opt out. Michael Collie in the Midlands realised quickly though: at the end of reading the regional coming up he quickly said 'Back to Fiona Bruce' (which I thought was very good given the mess they'd made) - then straight back to Fiona reading the next story, with no sting or anything.

Oh yes, one more thing. At 11.25pm last night - there was a BBC TWO DOG on BBC Two analogue, but it wasn't on Sky Digital, and was gone by 11.50pm.

Regarding the DOG, BBC TWO appeared during the golf a day or two ago for about three seconds

I saw that too - a taste of things to come?!!

As for the Six, we just didn't opt-out here in the North (Leeds) - probably well done to the Look North director who realised as the main news feed director must not have shouted 'opt-out'!

Same here in the North West!

To 'itsrobert': sorry about posting this thread about the News at Six after yours - obviously yours wasn't there at the time!

Thats OK - I'll lock mine now!

Although, I'll transfer this point: You could here 'and coming up in...' - could this be UK Today from the other side of N6?

Not sure, but I doubt it - I'm pretty sure that the UK Today headlines and comign up are recorded. One reason will be because the director of the Six is not the director of UK Today and they don't direct (if you see what I mean) during the opt-outs (ie. when UK Today) is on.

During the six o'clock news with Fiona the desk, scripts, mouse were all visible!

Am i right in thinking that the presenter of BBC News on BBC1/2 is the only person in the studio? Besides runners etc.

I seem to remember years ago watching a programme about BBC News and the cameras etc were computerised and programmed from the galleries!

the old blue virtual studio used to have computerised dalek camera going about, i don't think the new one does.

Also about the BBC TWO DOG, anyone noticed it is now shrinking durin 14:9 widescreen, it neva used to.

Erm, I don't want to sound like I'm trying to moderate or anything, but MikeG has since opened another thread on the BBC TWO DOG - lets put stuff regarding that in there http://www.tvhome.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=1&topic=1345 and discuss the Six here. (Seems logical).

To all the Beeb people that frequent this board: what happened with the direction on the Six tonight? Was it someone new?

Yep - maybe they have to pan back or something for some reason because Fiona is pregnant and having to sit further from the desk. Not sure myself if that makes sense.... let me try and work it out!!

Direction was slightly strange at times, but not particularly bad apart from the regions miss at 6.15 - bet they were annoyed sitting in the studios all waiting!

In the news studio there is the presenter but only a couple of other people - floor manager plus maybe camera technician who operates all the cameras. Plus, at 6.30 the UK Today presenter will also be in the studio.
