It does irritate me when certain words or phrases are use by journalists. Surely they could buy a Thesaurus or use a different phrase. Some examples:

Arrow Truly historic

MoD's Guide to presenting the News...

We have some breaking news reaching us here at Sky News, we're receiving reports of _______. Well joining us here in the studio is _______, whats your reaction to that? But you're not answering the question...

More still to come including... Still no sign of weapons of mass destruction...

We'll have more on that story at the top of the hour. From me and the rest of the team, goodbye!

Provided you memorize all the above, you can make presenting the news look simple!

the one that annoys me the most is:

"...and [reporter name] was in court.."

it makes them sound like the reporter is the criminal. Although, the quality of some of Phillipa Thomas' reports are actually criminal.
