I prefered the old BBC News look aswell - the new one looks like something the Changing Rooms team came up with in a lunchbreak! Razz:

I think the current Channel 4 News is excellent.
The flags music was ok but the studio was horrible.
I liked the old BBC News look too, the way the music was changed depending on the time of the day... ITN's 1995 or 96 look was also like this and I thought that was one of the best presentation styles i've ever seen.
Such a shame, ITV have ruined ITN.

But Channel 4 News had the best graphics during the election, the studio is just great with the view of the ITN building in the background and that huge block of a table, and of course, Jon Snow!

Didn't really think this was worth a new topic...but has anyone noticed how the BBC on air called their programmes the BBC News at One O'Clock, etc. after they relaunched then they went to the Ten O'Clock News and the Six went back to the Six O'Clock News.

The One always stayed on air as 'Good Afternoon and Welcome to the BBC News at One O'Clock' but yesterday and today Anna Ford and George Alagiah are referring to it as the 'One O'Clock News'.

Is this a shift deliberately or just me being picky?!!

You're right, they've been saying 'Good afternoon and welcome to the One o'Clock news' all week. I actually prefer this to BBC News at One o'Clock Razz:

Different presenters seem to be saying different things. Huw Edwards yesterday referred to it as 'The BBC News at Six o'Clock', but the BBC South announcer had only just said 'And now on BBC One, the Six o'Clock news with Huw Edwards and Sally Taylor'. Actually, is it just the south where the announcer says the regional reporter before the six o'clock program, or do they all?

Glad it's not just mean - I'm glad they have gone back to as it always was... Huw often says the Six O'Clock News and the News at Six interchangeably! Pacifying both camps maybe!!

All announcers before the news say the national and regional presenter (one of them)... but here in Leeds they say 'This is BBC One in the North, now at Six O'Clock, the BBC News with Huw Edwards and Clare Frisby.'

Would be good if they said, 'Now the BBC Six O'Clock News with Huw Edwards in London and Clare Frisby in Leeds...'!

Hi,

In The Midlands they say

This is BBC One in the Midlands, now at Six O'Clock, the BBC News with Huw Edwards and Ashley Blake.'

Actually, you're both right, it does say 'This is BBC One in the South. And now the (Six o'Clock news/News at Six o'Clock) with Huw Edwards and Sally Taylor.

Do you think ITV News will get a new look with the introduction of ITV One? Will BBC News get a new look with the renaming of BBC Choice and BBC Knowledge? Will Channel 5 news get a new look with the moving of it's evening bulletin and the removal of the Breakfast News? Smile
