Does anybody know what happened to News 24 yesterday lunchtime. I saw a bit of the channel at about 1.30pm - with Joanna Gosling and Chris Eakin presenting, when they are usually done by 1. Why was this and what time did Valerie Sanderson and the afternoon team appear?

Oh who do you think were best on News 24 when the terrible events in the US were being reported? Valerie Sanderson, John Nicolson, Jane Hill and Gavin Esler were great in my opinion.

I thought the best anchors were Jane Hill, Peter Dobbie, and Gavin Esler. We thought it was amazing the way they just kept on going and werent emotional at all. But why did Huw edwards turn up on News 24 at 7 o'clock and Gavin disappeared.

Perhaps there was a security alert, and they played some of the previous hours news. This has happened before!

News 24 was simulcast on BBC One after the Six O'Clock News and a much shorter regional opt (5 mins?). I suspect that Huw was presenting on the News 24 set to give the output a sense of continuity to BBC One viewers.

I think it might have been that Gavin needed a break before doing the rest of the evening with Carrie and David Dimblebore (sorry, dimbleby). Huw looked quite at home and comfortable with doing a bit of News 24. Huw's done good in my opinion since hes been newsreading full time. What is it 2 and a half years now?
