Yes, the LIVE Dog is the only change I think.

What seems to have happened is that World and news 24 were updated with the graphics when they first changed to the hideous red in April 2002 I think, but in Januray 2003 (with the new countdown etc) the News 24 Live DOG was changed to Bold, and World's was not updated.

For example (taken recently):

BBC World Overnight:

http://jolnetwork.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/captures/n24ovn2.jpg

BBC News 24 Overnight:
http://jolnetwork.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/captures/n24ovn3.jpg
http://jolnetwork.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/captures/n24ovn4.jpg
(I like that moustache)

I think that is the only difference.

This is the other thing, when News 24 update their graphics, they fail to download the same graphics to the BBC World gallery, hence adding even more inconsistancy to their graphics.

Yep but really it's rare that they would need them at world. Usually the Overnight service is from N24 only due to these 'changes' we've moved to world - maybe the bods at n24 will realise this and give World the update versions anyway.

The only problem with the updated versions is it performs worser then the one that the World gallery currently uses, I swear the updated News 24 info ticker is slower then the previous one.

I swear the N24 graphics team are on drugs!

BTW that is red, and a pretty horrible shade as well!

For flips sake; of course that piccy is red - it's completely over saturated. You can't judge it accurately from that. How many times do I have to say this?

Yes but how many people have their TV settings like that. This is how I saw these astons when they appeared.

And the ticker. I thought it was too fast when it appeared so I'm glad they have slown it down.

So no-one saw the travel news bit on News 24?

Red box slid in from the side under the DOG with the wordTRAVEL directly under the DOG, centre justified, all lined up nice.

Then a black & white railways picture with RAILWAYS on it slid from the left under the clock, a black aston slid up from the bottom to align with (perfectly) with it, and the red ticker slid in from the right. The black aston had WEST COAST MAINLINE written on it and the cancelled services scrolled underneath on the red ticker.

They also had a bit on roads, when a roads picture expanded out from the top of the aston covering the railways one (cool).

It all looked very very good!

They've been doing that for a good while now. Once upon a time it used to come from the second set, and be more than just a quick update. They should do them more often.

It's more dark red - the lights just emphasise the red in places. Here is a more accurate colour picture.

Can anyone with inside knowledge tell us what's happening at the moment with the graphics, as something strange is going on.

You rarely now (if at all, I've not seen it) get the new swishy-slidey graphics with the spinning phones. I presume this was done with a different machine, is it broke?

Also text on the infostrap often just appears now rather than typing across.

Finally the change of the red breaking news banner to the red & black.

Somethings up!!

Exactly. What the heck is going on. Even with what graphics they are using - they're not using them very well. I mean that 'ticker' they've got. Somedays they'll shrink the picture get the strap on but nothing appears. It will just site there for a while before someone realises it's not working. I've also noticed that they have once or twice just plonked the ticker on screen ontop of every other graphic there obscuring bits of text.

It's like my room.... a mess.

I agree. Watching BBC World in Australia and you could easily tell when BBC World joins BBC News 24 - during 10am... the graphics are really shoddy. Even when its from the world newsroom...

What - they've been doing it with all the fancy graphics I described, including the use of the brand new ticker??????

That's not quite true the red is actually quite bright. That capture is just darker my TV Card captures like that. Quite dark - you don't have it by any chance. Hauppauge Nova-T card?

No - - it's recorded from a digital tv adaptor - Samsung SIR-U200i via composite. I tried to see what colour fitted all the channels on the freeview range

but i suppose this looks better
