I think the ticker looks big because News 24 is in widescreen. If you shrunk the pic to 4:3 then the ticker is probably smaller in height than Sky/ITN but using a slightly larger font.
Also N24 looks god awful in 4:3, the square plain graphics etc really don't do it justice in 4:3

Does anyone else think the ticker text is a ridiculously big? I do, compare it to the size of Sky News and ITV News, and News 24 looks utterly stupid!

It's probably me who's wrong but just watching the overnight at 2am, and it seems the Live dog above the clock is smaller, and the astons / information strap at the top of the hour are smaller, vertically wise anyhow.
Are they using World's graphics as well as the studio, or have they been getting smaller of late?

They were coming from BBC World last night, but they weren't using World's normal news graphics. I don't usually watch overnight, but I seem to remember someone saying on here that World's version of the joint graphics are slightly different to News 24's? Maybe someone can clarify that?

Sorry if it's been brought up in this thread or somewhere else, but I can't wade through 35 odd pages!

Yes, the LIVE Dog is the only change I think.
What seems to have happened is that World and news 24 were updated with the graphics when they first changed to the hideous red in April 2002 I think, but in Januray 2003 (with the new countdown etc) the News 24 Live DOG was changed to Bold, and World's was not updated.
For example (taken recently):
BBC World Overnight:

BBC News 24 Overnight:

http://jolnetwork.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/captures/n24ovn4.jpg
(I like that moustache)
I think that is the only difference.

Can anyone with inside knowledge tell us what's happening at the moment with the graphics, as something strange is going on.
You rarely now (if at all, I've not seen it) get the new swishy-slidey graphics with the spinning phones. I presume this was done with a different machine, is it broke?
Also text on the infostrap often just appears now rather than typing across.
Finally the change of the red breaking news banner to the red & black.
Somethings up!!

Exactly. What the heck is going on. Even with what graphics they are using - they're not using them very well. I mean that 'ticker' they've got. Somedays they'll shrink the picture get the strap on but nothing appears. It will just site there for a while before someone realises it's not working. I've also noticed that they have once or twice just plonked the ticker on screen ontop of every other graphic there obscuring bits of text.
It's like my room.... a mess.
