Okay this ticker is on again, now it's got a gradient background below it (during Hardtalk this is). It's still slightly too fast but they need to have going right across the screen really. That clock just seems to get in the way a bit.

Anyone else agree?

It seems to go back to the start at the end of the headlines (as tickers do I suppose), but if they're going to use it for this purpose then they should work out a way of not wrenching it off at it starts over again

So the ticker's just being used for headlines at hh:45 during programmes like Hardtalk.

Seen it with and without the orange gradient background - far better without.

It slides up from the bottom to align with the clock and then fades out at the end. Always seems to end with the BBC News web address, a long gap and then a full stop on its own!

I like it's positioning with the clock, and the way the clock swallows the text up, this is far better than having the text appear again the other side of the clock - what for, there's not enough space to read it!

I also don't think it's too fast, but maybe for older people it would be. There's nothing more annoying for me than a slow ticker!

So it seems that the ticker is just a replacement for the old headlines ticker and the whole graphics revamp was just them moving everything over to the new generators. How nice.

That ticker is this: too red.

Just noticed another problem with the ticker, headlines being scrolled at 1645 on Reporters, whilst the ticker was on screen an aston for Reporters appeared and the lower part was completely obscured by the ticker – doh! Surely this scenario should been anticipated…

I've just posted a brand new set of mocks for the ticker Very Happy , Click here to go straight there, there at the bottom of the page, please reply with some comments

Just seen it - very nice but why did it
1 - Run three times
2 - Have that random full stop at the end?

The ticker is actually automatically generated - no one actually types in the headlines. It takes a feed from the headlines from BBCi and turns them into what you see on screen.

It looks like someone has thought about the ticker clashing with some astons. I just watched the 1545 "tick" and as the ticker slid off it appeared that the background picture slid down or was un-squeezed slightly. I suspect that there is a small amount of DVEing of the background to lift the bottom of the picture up a bit?

The scrolling of the errant "." is a bit annoying though...
