Sorry, anyway, hope i didn't upset anyone there, back to the ticker please, before c@t starts to display her medal collection on behalf of Sky News.

I think the difference with a possible ticker would be because it is a constant distraction.

By the way - I've been meaning to mention this all day but they now have the sports headlines as part of the .15 sequence which makes the chanel seem a lot faster for some reason.

it's nice and neat there - this morning it was all missized and overlapping terribly.

mmm, beginning to doubt the ticker thing now. ooo look, yet another TV Forum topic has managed to go on to something not connected with is site at all. Perhaps people should start writing articles or something to explain their views and their explainations. Lets stop arguing about which channel is fundamentally better, this is a presentation site, lets argue about the graphics, and the presentation of the news not the stories.

Ahem.

His.

Call me a woman again and I will smother you with my bare hands.

Now, back on topic, it's "English", Marcus, not "english". Anyway, I care not to get into a debate about the English language.

So, properly back on topic, I will say that given the fact that the BBC have been well aware of News 24's seemingly interminable poor performances for some time, why is so little being done so late?

The "we're not going to define ourselves by what Sky are doing". Well, you are really, aren't you? You see, now they say they are too much like Sky, so in the future they want to be different from Sky. So rather than telling us how much better than Sky they are (which they aren't, to add to this elixir of broadcasting propaganda confusion) they will be telling us how different they are.

Now, my friends, that is still defining yourself by your main rival, is it not?

I also imagine that when the BBC see helicopters being put to good use for the news, they too with use theirs a little more frequently.

And I love you too, HTV West. I refuse to use those odd little yellow faces with smiles on, but be assured there is the beginning of a small, stretched expression across my face at this moment.

Oh, f uck off, for f uck's sake.

Do you not see the irony here? You are whinging about everyone else whinging?

No, don't laugh, it's not funny, you pillock. Before you and the Boring Bandits wipe your unwanted snots of posts on the sleeve of another TV Forum thread, think about how increadibly irritating you are to the large number of people who actually find these threads a hell of a lot more interesting than "Let's redesign the schedules for ITV...AGAIN!".

W anker.

I believe that all platforms N24 is broadcast on have digital text, so viewers can access the headlines virtually instantly anyway. So why have a ticker?

Not on NTL we don't... and the ticker thing is just a rumour... lets see if they do start using one before we get too excited about it.... perhaps it'll be an optional extra for interactive viewers. No one here as actual confirmed that its happening, at least no one like NickyS.... let's just wait and see...

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Just because it says on this company's website that they're going to have a ticker doesn't mean they are.

The system that they've bought sounds like it does more than just a ticker, perhaps the BBC bought it with a ticker ability in the spec just incase they wanted to use it in the future.

Perhaps they'll just use it during breaking news to continuously repeat the news while they carry on with other items. Loads of things are possible without them actually having a permanent ticker.

W anker hey? I hope the moderators of this site have noted your language.

Find a comment made by me about re-arranging ITV News Schedules and I'll agree, until then, I won't.

I find it hard to believe, also, that you think people would find you being rude, and arguing on this site an intresting read. The topic is BBC News 24 ticker, not anything else.

OK, I haven't read the last ten pages of this thread, but where is this ticker anyway?

As to BBC News 24, they've got the content, it needs to be packaged better, with a set with proper newsroom atmoshphere(not too much of course), I won't go on about the astons!
