I'm not asking this question for the sake of asking; it's most likely been asked in the past - how much would a News Director expect as salary? How wide ranging is the scale of pay dependent on experience?

By my calculations, 8/9D+UPA2 would mean a possible range of £32,956 to £53,288.

That's not bad at all, I thought it was lower than that.

Actually £30k for a London job is rather poor.

My cousin is a lawyer and earns around £100k. Lucky cow. Laughing

The fully competent rate for a news director is about £36000 plus £4200 UPA2, although the UPA is under negotiation with the unions at the moment.

NB this is the level for a fully trained director. You would start on a lot less than this.

Here's a nice mistake which happened in the run up to the hour last night while I had my TV card recording! Enjoy!

Well not a mistake but they just had a long countdown. I just turned over and it was on 45 and sounded like it had been on for a bit.

Also that mistake fited quite nicely with the countdown. It would be interesting if they did that for the countdown - just show people preparing for broadcast or leaving one. lol

Did anyone see the mistake on BBC World 10 minutes ago? For some reason, after the countdown, the sound was muted for the entire headline and title sequence. It only cut back in again after the titles.

News Director Job

I've already got a job, thanks!

Sounds an interesting job, although if I got this job, i'd turn BBC News 24 into BBC World and do a runner! Laughing
