Servers don't crash for no reason - there is always human error or complete incompetence involved somewhere down the line.
Cleary has never used any Microsoft server products ...
So these mistakes (actually, they are more than mistakes - they happen so often it seems like they're intentional), are due to the fact that the BBC uses Microsoft products?
There was a comment on the previous page about me having a grudge against the Beeb. Far from it, I do think that the BBC is far far superior to any other broadcaster. That is why I find it so difficult to comprehend the total sloppyness of BBC News 24.

Well you get what you pay for. News 24 is run with a minimum of technical staff. Overnight there are just two prople doing all the jobs of a full gallery. I'm amazed it stays on air at all sometime given the ammount they load onto the directors. In fact when the technology is working well, and you have a director who knows what they are doing, it's far slicker than a lot of the output from a fully staffed gallery.
When the technology is falling over and you have someone unsure in the directors seat, and a usless output editor, it can look a total mess.
News24 management do need to look at how complicated the directors job has become as they are finding it impossible to train new directors.

Errr, unclench. I was making a joke, not inferring anything about product use.
There's something that's just not quite right about that, Marcus.
Can you think what it might be?
If you are implying that News24 costs more than sky then you are just regurgitating sky propaganda. Are you sure you are not Gerald Kaufman in disguise. In terms of output staff News24 spends far less than sky.

Sorry, but with the quality of the presentation at news 24 i'm surprised it costs anything.
I think N24's fine apart from the graphics, to be honest (but the graphics really do get in the way of the stories at times). It does what it aims to do well, I think. If you want a different kind of news channel, watch Sky or ITN NC.
