I guess people either love it or hate it, but when BBC1 joined News24 at 2am, they showed all 90 secs.
It seems to be the same as the previously captured 88 sec one, but we get those few extra frames Cool

And the soundtrack to About A Boy (the interlude sections) is currently accompanying Ceefax on BBC2 (it followed a very proper closedown announcement too).

They're treating us good tonight!

edit: it turned into the usual Ceefax lift-music at 2:58.

Very interesting - I've never had a chance to see the full "new" countdown because last time I checked the file at TVR was down.
Also gives me a chance to ask sad question of the week - what's your favourite bit of the countdown, then?
For me....oh, it's just gotta be the close-up of the clock at 25. Ohhhhh...Wink

It's actually called "Imaginary Sky" from a Bruton CD. The track runs to over 8 minutes. Great to have Ceefax tonight but we're paying for it with News 24 tomorrow...

The bit between 80 and 78 makes me laugh. No idea why, just something faintly funny about it. In fact, so does 77 to 76 - maybe it's just me. 65 to 62 is plain weird. And there concludes my 3.24am commentary on the BBC News 24 countdown.

Nooo, before that. Tracks 1 - "Exit Stage Right" - dur 0:20, 4 - "Dead Duck" - dur 0:46, 6 - "I Love NYE" - dur 3:20, 8 - "Wet, Wet, Wet" - dur 0:42 and 11 - "Rachel's Flat" - dur 0:35. All from Badly Drawn Boy's soundtrack to the movie About A Boy.

Not necessarily in that order but I definitely heard them! Total duration 5:43.

My details are correct for the Ceefax version. The PasB listing:

IMAGINARY SKY
Com: Coleen Coil
Pub: FirstCom
Cat No: FC-U 82
Dur: 8:43

The title/artist has probably been changed for Ceefax purposes, but I accept it's the same track. Martin Kershaw released his ITV Schools guitar tracks commercially in 1982; the music was the same but the titles were all changed.

Did you notice on my post above, the edit I made at 2:58? If it's all one track, it doesn't half make a funny change in style halfway through. How long have Ceefax been using that piece of music, do you know?

Since June. Of course, Ceefax music listings are prone to error. And the music library is FirstCom, not Bruton as originally stated (though both are owned by Zomba!)

Fair enough. Don't want to start a row at this time of night. I heard what I heard and was very surprised to too. I was even humming along with it. Smile

Night-night.

Typically, I decided to go for BBC ONE Wales and they only showed 89 seconds... but I've already got the full 90 on tape (and preceded by the full tango ident too) so I don't mind. Heh heh, I am so sad...
