Did anyone see the BBC News special on BBC News 24 at 5:00pm today, with the news coming live from Afghanistan? Sky Digi info told us that it would be normal BBC News 24 on, but I think plans to put a BBC News special on were confirmed this afternoon.

Bit of a cock-up made there. The clock usually flicks over to the hour (e.g from 16:59 to 17:00) a split second after the large 00 but today the countdown must have been out of line as the clock changed about 2 seconds after that.

(An edit now, just after 11:00pm and this time they got it right! Smile ).

BBC News 24 - the cockup of mistakes, but the best news coverage and ident presentation.

Yep I seen the beginning of the special at 5.00pm. They used the BBC World headline bed followed by the News 24 overnight ident! It sounded fantastic!

It did sound good, but not when you expect normal BBC News 24 on, instead of the World headline bed playing (at the end of the countdown).

Well now that BBC World have the same countdown as News 24, they play the bbc world headline bed straight after it! So I suppose World viewers would have expected this!

BTW, I much prefer the old BBC Worod and countdown idea, anyone else agree?

The countdown actually hits 00 one second before the top of the hour - or at least it should Smile

What N24 sometimes do is have it hit 00 two seconds before the top when they are opting in World & BBC 1, and go to the first headline pics at 1 second to the top. This enables the various Presentation areas to opt-in cleanly
