Well I've tried and I've tried, but I still can't figure out what it is that makes most of you like News 24. It's got dull music, stale graphics, frumpy old women and balding old men presenters, and worst of all it's so flippin' uptight.

Go on then, sell it to me. Why do you like it so much?

PS. Sky News rules.

Need say more? Lol http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

For me, I used to love Sky News. Watched it 24/7. Hated News 24. BUT THEN.......... RELAUNCH on Sky News. I now hate it. Can't stand it. Looks amateur.

BBC NEWS 24 (which I reckon should now become BBC N24 now they're changing everything) is now my favourite. Above all, it provides BBC News 24 hours a day - and that's what I want.

OK, I have to admit, they do need to change the music and studio soon. Jazz it up a bit, that's all they need.

As for the presenters being frumpy? Can't say I've noticed... Wink

No! That is rubbish! Sorry DAS but it is! The name should stay the same - it says exactly what it is!

I agree totally phil

Sky News is much better than News 24. But were BBC News 24 First for maybe the first time today with the news that some MP had gone from Labour to Lib Dem??? If so that is amazing.

Sorry, Sky News is pants! Its style and coverage is pathetic whereas the BBC's is always professional - that's why the BBC wins lots of awards and Sky News doesn't!

And the prize for failing to detect a cynical remark when it hits him in the face goes to... Mike G!

Take the hint? I was commenting on how the BBC now seem to be jazzing everything up - OK?

I was being sarcastic. I should've put if you were to put a better attempt at being sarcastic, you could have chosen something different and, erm, original.

Sorry if it confused you.

Mike

And erm, I am quick on the uptake! How dare you! Lol!

This is what makes me want to watch News 24 more than Sky News:

1. Top-of-the-hour and --:30 titles.
2. Headline bed(s).
3. Graphics of the '3D' 24 that you see from numerous angles.
4. Sensible size name strips, and NOT BLARING OUT EVERY SINGLE THING IN CAPITALS like Sky News have done with their new look.
5. Breaking News coming in so soon after news of the event rarely broke.
6. Regular sport and business plus weather updates.
7. Presenters who might be a bore in all aspects but take presenting seriously and don't make jokes and talk every 5 minutes.
8. A nice comfortable studio you can drift off and dream about if there's a boring news story on... Smile

Need I say more? Yes. I quite agree with what Das said about being able to get access to news 24 hours a day - just what us public want. In 1997 the BBC finally woke up and answered the question 'Why should us Brits wait for the sodding news?!'

Agree with all the above, plus:

9. No boring commercial breaks every 15 minutes or whatever it is. And no, self-promotions and trailers do NOT count as commercial breaks!

I'll put this here - can't be bothered to open a new thread for a general remark:

I noticed that on TWT this morning that when World went to commercial breaks, British news came from the News 24 studio and in the middle of WBR, UK business news was played. It worked really well and haven't seen it before. I just assumed that the breaks for commercials were at 25 past the hour.

Now, this could be a way of getting World in the UK (I know it'll never happen but you can dream). Sorry if it's been said before.

Hmmmmm, you like News 24 because you get to see a 3D '24' from different angles? I'm beginning to see Mark and the other geezer's point now!

Those are rubbish reasons to watch it. Come on, put some effort into it! And stop saying you watch it because 'it's better than Sky News'. That's not a valid reason, I don't watch UK Food, but it's clearly better than Game Network.
