So the Olympians dominate, whilst Dame Hyacinth Bucket is the biggest TV name to get the top honour. (Sir) Mark Rylance, Maggie Philbin (OBE) and Angela Rippon (CBE) amongst the other notable TV honours.
Anyway, just a thought but were the BBC and ITV both smart enough tonight to schedule their late news bulletins to air after the embargo on honours was lifted (at 10.30pm it seems), or was that purely coincidence? Do they do the same every year?
Ken Dodd only appears on TV now usually when BBC Four (or BBC Two) has wheeled something out from the archive where he appears as a talking head. This weekend he's appearing on Channel 5. How the mighty have fallen TV-wise, however still very successful on tour and still going at 89 often until well past midnight. Who would have thought one could get so much mileage out of a tickling stick , "Happiness" and a "failed accountant" joke?
I'd not really thought much of him until he appeared on the QI radio programme 'The Museum of Curiosity' a while back. He was excellent on there, came across so well
