Tarrant really isn't going to be able to forget this in a hurry!

The snort at the end sums it up brilliantly - you can see where Tarrant was trying to come from, but... Embarassed

Could be worse I suppose, it could be the other spin off called wait for it.....50/50. A few European countries have now got this 'Spin off'.

I think it could go the same way as the US Syndicated Version, ie into 5 weekday, 30 minute programme.

Hot Seat though is just ridiculous though IMO.

I think that's probably the best idea. I quite enjoyed the final series which introduced the clock, albeit the calibre of contestants was quite low.

I've watched some on YouTube and it is indeed ridiculous.

Daytime Millionaire in the US is very different now, I think it's gone to far from the original formula but holding up OK in the ratings I believe.

For those who haven't seen it.

I think Hot Seat is more true to the format and doesn't become the format as it's labeled as spin-off.

That desk is horrible!

As somebody who finds almost every aspect of the original format unbelievably boring, I like it!

Be nice to see Challenge try to bring a few over - possibly with a title that differentiates it suitably. Millionaire Mix or something.

I believe the original format is the best. The whole point of the programme was that it had no gimmicks and was simply fifteen progressively harder questions for increasingly amount of money up to £1,000,000. The original set was far superior to what they have now, the original squared ends of the staircase bannisters, the 'money' in the box on the side of the monitor stand, the original lighting cues and of course the original graphics and music. Even Chris was better then, he didn't talk as much to the contestants as he does now (or did) and I believe this is why the ratings slowly dropped. People were becoming increasingly tired of waiting for the questions to come up, Chris in the later series even mentions 'we will talk more later' which implied that the viewers wanted to know more about the contestants which they didn't. I believe that every programme will become 'boring' the longer it is on air and I believe Who Wants To Be A Millionaire should have been cancelled circa 2005.

I think the "simple" format only worked because the stakes were perceived to be so high.

We now have daily quizzes giving away £250k jackpots. The £1m jackpot is nothing like the impossibility it seemed back then, and the prizes that are given away regularly are pretty run-of-the-mill for primetime quiz shows.

What once felt unbelievably tense now feels unbelievably slow. I'm all for straightforward question-and-answer quiz shows (which is why I'm a fan of The People Versus v2, Blockbusters, Fifteen-to-One etc.) but for me Millionaire lacks both pace and personality.

^ True. Millionare was always destined to be a show that aged quickly. And It did.

I stopped watching about 8-10 years ago. God knows how it continued to hold peoples attention as long as it did.

Mind you, Deal or No Deal inexplicably continues to hold its audience.

Or it could be even worse, it could be the other Spin Off...50-50

I see Chris Tarrant wants a return to general public Millionaire: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a333682/chris-tarrant-who-wants-to-be-a-millionaire-should-be-open-to-the-public.html

I'd personally like to see this. I watched the last series for the first time in around eight years and enjoyed it thanks to the speed of the clock. I just don't think the live shows work - they're not produced very well and Chris Tarrant is, erm, shall we say, less competent live...

Perhaps the show should be axed from prime-time and find a slot in the day, perhaps up against Pointless?
