I also think like the format is bad if the people who are playing the game make fast decisions eg, like when Patsy Palmer asked for 'Ask the Audience'' straight after Phone a Friend' and the clock had to re-appear on the screen behind the desk before the 'Ask the Audience' graphic could be brought up.

I think last night's was better than when Tarrant first did it live.. he could barely catch a breath and made the whole thing a shambles.

The viewers emails at the end was blatant filler and went on for something like 5 minutes! I guess they were not expecting the caller to answer the question so quickly.

As has been said about the show on here before, it's a shame we live in such a celebrity obsessed era now where Millionaire has to keep doing 'specials' and the appeal of the 'general public' versions seem to no longer work. Although perhaps that's how it's had its day.

I thought the whole thing was pretty shambolic. If they hadn't filled it out with so much crap Patsy and son could have got a lot more for charity, which I thought was the point of the show. IMO they should have just got rid of it completely last year.

I only caught the first few minutes of the show on the basis that the sound quality was appalling.

Chris shouted the entire introduction to the show. I thought it was probably due to him being excited/nervous about the show being live, but then as he continued shouting as the show got underway, I wasn't going to sit and watch a programme with such distorted sound!

I stopped watching at that point and tuned in part way through again to find him still shouting and the distortion just as bad!

Anyone watch tonight's Live WWTBAM School's Out??

I didn't reckon much to it:-

- Very long and drawn out
- Too many advert breaks
- Calzaghe was on for about all of 4 minutes before being cut off
- Chris Tarrant told the phone-in viewer winner who was disabled "That's Fantastic!"
- Fern Britton's daughter was rude and ignorant
- Lack of some key atmospheric music/too quiet atmospheric music/missing musical scores
- 10 minutes of time wasting with asking kids stupid questions half way through the show - nothing to do with the main show
- Time-wasting throughout the show only having to rush chaotically at the end

It could have been so much better than this... Rolling Eyes

It's going the same way as the original ABC US series did, loads of 'Special' or 'Celeb' episodes then getting cancelled. Is Millionaire UK heading for the same fortune??

Unfortunately it's hit "desperate" stage. Just waiting for Tarrant to do a Cilla and announce live it's going to be his last show. Can see The Sun headline now.. "Tarrant's Final Answer: "I Quit!"" cue pages of classic Millionaire moments, Keppel, Major Ingram scandal, previous contestants crawling from the woodwork, Ulrika Jonsson: "Chris Tarrant fondled me in the Green room" Exclusive!...

(..sorry I appear to have turned into Rebekah Brooks.. Embarassed !)

It seems like it, the series itself was cancelled last year they only bring it out of retirement for these stupid one off specials. Granted it's not how it was say 10 years ago, but the normal versions were good Saturday night filler. I think if you want decent WWTBAM then Challenge is probably your best place.

The endless celeb specials killed it off for me - and now the regular series has been axed I really don't see the point in keeping these poorly produced occassional live specials either.

They kind of need to strip it back to basics - ordinary people hoping to win £1m in a relatively gimmick free quiz show. Alternativelly it wouldn't be the worst idea to adopt the Hotseat format* and ITV recording a bunch of 30-minute editions and putting them in the schedules as filler when need be (though the obvious Wednesday slot will be reclaimed by Corrie next year).

* Millionaire Hotseat, as seen in Australia and I think Italy. Basically 5 or 6 players, 15 questions, £1m. One person takes to the "Hotseat" and begins the game, continuing until they answer incorrectly (and leave the game)or use their one and only pass, which puts them at the back of the queue and sends the next person to the Hotseat. If a question is answered incorrectly the top level of the money board is removed and the next person answers a new question at the same level. Whoever answers the 15th and final question correctly wins the cash.

Tarrant really isn't going to be able to forget this in a hurry!

I watched the live episode last December (which got unbelievable ratings, it has to be said) - and I found the whole thing so appalling. Why on earth should it ever be live?

Give The People Versus another chance over this under-produced nonsense.

I thought the timings were a bit unfare as Bob Mortimer took ages then Joe Karazaki had about two minutes at the end, should have all had equal time since it was live, and althought the infant kids were funny it ate into the main point of the show which was the celebs rasing money for their charities
