What happens if the clock runs down? Is it counted as a wrong answer or is it counted as a "I'll take the money, Chris"?

It means wrong answer I believe, I was in audience of the next episode.

Interesting new spin on the old format, and I think it will help the show, especially with the speed boost.

Nice subtle changes to the set, the one thing that sticks out to be is how strange it looks with the lack of seats around the edge. But its nice that they've now got rid of them, especially now that the show is now recorded as close to air as it was when the programme first started.

It is, where did you get that from? As far as I'm aware this was recorded a good few months and originally it was recorded something like the day before.

ITV and yet another phone-line / viewer competition controversy

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? ITV1, August 3 2010

"Due to an error, the question in the viewer competition featured on the programme broadcast on 3 August 2010 was different to the question given to entrants in the phone line message. As soon as this error was noticed we cancelled this competition. Anyone who entered can receive a full refund, and we are very sorry for this mistake and for any inconvenience this has caused. "

Do I understand that you can't "walk away with the money" until you reach at least £50,000? Certainly means they won't be paying out as much cash!

The more chatty format is something they've introduced in Germany, making it more of an informal, "you're over for tea with Tarrant but whilst you're here shall we have a quiz?" instead of a big event like when it first launched.

The remixed opening music still sounds tinny and dreadful - the original theme had much more impact so they should reinstate it, along with reshooting the original, far superior titles.

I'm sure you can walk away with the money before you reach £50,000. I think that you just have to do it in the time limit.

Chris said you can walk away but so long as you say within the time limit. The title theme changed in 2007 so that's nothing new but I agree it's not as powerful as the original.

You can still walk away with what you've won so far at any time. I've so far seen the Thursday evening ITV2 repeats of 19 and 26 August 2010, some contestants walked away with £10,000 or £20,000.

So last night's live edition - to me it seemed very slow and less exciting despite being live. Chris seemed to be the only one getting excited and over-exaggerated it. I don't think it helped that they couldn't use all the music elements - for example before the clock starts on the £500 and £1000 questions and after they'd given their answer there was just silence. There were also no 'du-du-dum' 'light downs' in between each question - only after £1000 and £50,000. The viewers question was again not very exciting.

Doing it live was the mistake I think. They can't deal with it.

I didn't think it went too badly, only the fact that Chris Evans is a total twonk and Tarrant got so overexcited throughout, he almost vomited cash everywhere!
