It's faster and they're certainly cutting to the chase but I don't think it'll be enough to bring the show back to it's golden roots sadly. Time will tell and I reckon it'll be Chris who decides over the next few months or so as to when/if it's had it's day or not (similar vein to Cilla re Blind Date revamp).
So slighty changed set, titles. Alos the on screen graphics are now purplely rather than black.
Mabye it's just because it's the 1st show, but not sure I'm like it so far, for these reasons
- More sob stories, the kid that had down syndrome on video good luck message
- The photo's of the family etc
- At one point Chris seemed to forget just momenterally to say restart the clock after someone using using a 50/50.
Also I thought the Phone a friend's were supposed to be in vision? Instead we got photo's and 1st contestant one of her phone a friends couldn't be bothered to send in a photo - good start!
I'm guessing the new format also helps with the recording and editing aspects. By having a time limit on the first 7 questions it means they don't need to edit out minutes of the contestants thinking before actually deciding on an answer (as I believe they've had to in the past). The removal of the fastest finger round presumably also speeds up the recording process.
Not bad but I do not like the way the entire set and graphics have turned purple, particularly the 'standby' ligting on the staricases which was formerly and famously yellow but is now pink. The music is terrible and, just as I had feared, there is far too much talking and as another dimension there are now 'good luck' videos and photographs which are a easy way to make people feel sorry for the contestants.
So, return to the old lighting style, money tree and talking rate and this once great programme can be great again.
