It was like Ready Steady Cook's voting system change, but in reverse. Enjoyed the moment of mild panic after the keypads failed. And a glass of water knocked over as well. If that ain't a good episode, then frankly I don't know what is.

Yes after last night went pretty smooth it all seemed to mess up by the end of the night's programme! It was quite humorous when the results came up with the dramatic music initially technically showing that nobody thought that any of the answers were right.

The Voting Cards held up by the audience when Ask the Audience didn't work showing 0% for each answer was a classic TV moment!! Very Happy

Very bizarre. As I watched last night I thought 'what would happen if the voting buttons failed?' Now I know Very Happy

I actually prefer the show when the use everyday contestants, rather than so-called celebrities! Just wish they could find a regular slot for it, instead of the Tuesday 8pm (when they show the celeb editions) - how about the Sunday 7pm slot - The Cube does well in that slot!

I imagine it's proven to have performed well, it'll be stripped over a week every couple of months. We'll have gone full circle almost.

It's much better with normal people with stories to tell - as long as the story doesn't take up too much of the show and it's all about the questions!! It is called "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" (or WWTBAM!) after all...not, "Which Charity Wants to Be a Millionaire" (or WCWTBAM!) or "I'm already a Millionaire but I'll Play Along Anyway" ( or IAAMBIPAA!). So it should work better with normal people.

If you think about it, Millionaire has always been up against either Casualty on Saturday nights, or Holby City on Tuesday nights - ever since probably 2002. It was shown on Thursday nights also in the old days too. So if you could schedule it not against these programmes and strip it across the week like it has been done this week - maybe do it 4-6 times per year so it doesn't get stale, it could be great!!

I was looking at America's Who Wants to be a Milionaire with Meredith Viera last night on Youtube - and that has changed a lot since it started. The clock was intorduced and now it has been scrapped, and the questions are randomised and money amounts are randomised too. Lifelines include "Ask An Expert" and "Double Dip" etc and even the familiar theme tune has been changed to something completely different. Have they been able to change the format of the show since Celador sold it to Two Way Television and now Victory television - as before, the format was not allowed to change in any country in the old days - each country's was the same. Anyone know about this??

I think that Meredith Viera's WWTBAM in America has changed TOO much for it to be viable in this country, certainly under the same name. The version they had before 2009 was acceptable. Maybe the UK's could tweak things here and there, nothing much,,cut out any unneccessary waffle (keep a bit of waffle in) strip it across the week, bring back the background music and Q's1-2 music etc etc, the walk on/off music, put it on 4-6 times a yr and it wouldn't get stale.

But I have certainly enjoyed this week's 3 shows! It could be polished further for a really slick production though! Very Happy But it shows that people still like it if it beats the other programmes on the telly! Plus being live, you've got the added bonus that you don't know the result of if anyone wins the million beforehand which was always a bugbear with the pre-recorded shows.

That's what I think anyway Very Happy

Presumably Sony just got wise to the fact for the brand to stay on the air in many countries they had to let the producers tweak the format.

I don't mind the fact they stand up on the American Millionaire, I don't like the format though and think it should be branded differently like 'Hot Seat' in the Australia.

Well, great seeing the general public back although pointless branding it "People Play" and that random Peter Andre appearance on tonight's Millionaire wishing the screamy beautician contestant "good luck". Bizarre.

They're clearly trying to milk every last drop they can out of this show.

I've found these last few episodes rather enjoyable but there is some things that I feel need sorting:

•The final contestant should get as long as they need to play; even though the woman that played last had probably reached her ceiling, it is not fair that she had to rush through.
•I thought the production values were fairly good but as mentioned earlier they need to sort out the Steadicam - there was a particularly bad wobble tonight. The sound needs sorted at points too; a start would be to tell Chris Tarrant to stop making loud noises which distort the sound.
•Tarrant needs to stop saying the phone a friends are a "strange looking bunch" and stop making statements which aren't true eg. on Tuesday he said to someone "everything you've said so far has been very, very hesitant" when the contestant hadn't hesitated at all.

Anyway, it's nice to see it back with 'normal people' even if the celebs are back as soon as next month. I do believe there is some mileage left in it.

The key pads just didn't work. And the audience were made to hold up a piece of paper with A, B, C or D on it.
Laughing Ask the Audience failed? Is that the first time that's ever happened on any version of the show?

I think it's probably the first time it's been broadcast, however since a lot of the versions are pre-recorded it could well have happened before but been cut in the edit.
