I guess the show will be littered with references to players playing online - such as "gooberboy39 is the top scoring player in the Granada area"
I'm sure they'd just say in Liverpool or the North West. The Million Pound Drop gets it right, it's mentioned but it doesn't take over the show, however that's always been part of the format.
Makes me laugh how in listings they're saying that it is the "first time" people can play along. They did it back in the ON Digital days when a playalong version aired on ITV2, and I'm sure they did it subsequently on Sky too.
It would be great if these rated well and sent a strong message to execs that we want to see real people, not celebs, on game shows - but frankly their half arsed effort with a three part series (it was originally supposed to be seven, but they've now made four of them celeb editions) probably means it won't capture the publics attention.
If this so called 'Play Online' version doesn't pick up the ratings then it should be shelved IMO.
Or take the American or Australian slant on it and either turn it into Daytime (although Daytime and ITV don't really mix) or turn it into the Hot Seat version.
But whatever happened to the pilot of 50-50 that was meant done for the UK version of this spin off? As it seems to be doing quite well in several countries around the world?

Can't find the presenters to do it?
Bolton's Vernon Kay busy doing other shows
Bolton's Patrick McGuinness busy doing other shows
Bolton's Dave Spikey busy doing stand-up comedy
Ben Shepherd far too straight-laced
Phillip Schofield busy doing other things
Bradley Walsh splits his time between The Chase, Odd One In and L&O:UK
Ant and Dec only seem to do 3 different shows each year!

Yes one of the Johnny Vegas and Monkey adverts was based around it:
The questions and answers are coming up on the interactive game much earlier than on the TV, so by the time everyone's decided on answer, as easy as it could be, there's only about 3 seconds left on the clock. A bit annoying.

That wasn't a bad little play along game either. One of the better Interactive games on the telly and on ITV ironically!
From memory prizes were also on offer to people who got over a specific amount.. may have only been a WWTBAM board game but still a nice incentive rather than playing on your own for the fun of it.
Chris Tarrent said that one woman took the money at just £500. Is that true or just a lie?
Did it happen tonight? Yes it had happened once in the early years when it was the 15-question format. Cheryl Turner at the end of the first series. According to the Millionaire Moments book, the audience gave her a big cheer when she walked away as if it was half a million.
