whether it's true or not I don't know but you should check out this article

That sounds quite good actually! No doubt the new BBC Daytime News theme will be a dodgy remix, but it is a bit too stuffy at the moment and would benefit from these changes.

Why can't they keep the news as it it. It'd be going away from the 'corporate' look which they've spent ages trying to make.

I don't think it'll move totally away from the corporate look - just different.
I actually think it'd be great to see Moria or Anna Ford perched on one of the newsroom desks while everyone's drinking coffee and having a gossip!

Many people might disagree with me but I think news should be formal - in an authoritative way. Well, that's my opinion anyway!

That new 'pace' Ten sounds a bit dodgy!! Let's hope they pull it off. Are they losing in the battle with ITN at 10pm then?

The new set and tune sounds a good idea for daytime summaries. More people are likely to stay on to watch it before Real Rooms! The new set sounds an interesting idea - obviously they've found room somewhere!

Well I don't know anything, and the Guardian article could be speculation but there is already the camera in the newsroom that is used for trails for the Ten O'Clock News as well as correspondent two-ways. That actually has a computer and sort of high table next to it ... so they could do them from there - and they wouldn't be perched on a desk but in the newsroom.
They could stand in front of the screen or CSO screen in N6.

I've not read the article yet but I've got a very strong feeling it may involve the words 'standing up'.
I can't understand how they can be losing to ITN (even though they actually are), ITN on ITV have just gon downhill of late, it's pathetic now.

Standing is a new craze in the news, ok not for channel 5 but still!
Sky had the 9 o'clock anchor standing up and the US networks seem to have followed suit.

If it is true I'd expect them to be wandering about the newsroom.
Interesting to see the BBC going all modern on us in terms of news delivery!

I seriously hope 60 seconds is not the future! God forbid we all get our news in 60 seconds and end up knowing nothing!

Right, just read the article. Sounds promising if a little Americanised.

Fox News have a very interesting story on this actually:

Should be interesting whatever happens.

I hope it will be in the newsroom and will have a plasma screen (like bbc regional news) and a small desk (like on Breakfast).

I'm tempted to suggest that if they go for the 'standing up' approach, more use should be made of the staircase in the middle of the newsroom, to demonstate that the newsreaders are able to walk as well.

So for the ten o'clock news 30 second trail, perhaps have Peter Sissons standing at the top of the staircase next to a plasma screen - and have a sweeping pan of the newsroom at the end.

Sounds awful but the News 24 trail did something very similar.

BREAKING NEWS: BBC News presenter perches on edge of main news set . . .

Matthew Ammwil(etc) presenting the repeat of this morning's Queen Mum celebrations introduced it by walking round the two round desks in the MAIN news studio. He then ended up perching on the end of the desk with the plasma behind him showing the Queen Mum.
