It will certainly be difficult for the BBC. I think a lot of young people know where to turn for teen programming, and that's T4, or if you've got Digital, then E4. And in my opinion, they're the best options.

just like fashion trends for different types of programming for the "Yoof'" tend to come and go between BBC2 and C4

e.g. Satellite 7 (C4), DEF II (BBC 2) , T4 (C4) so it would now be presumptious to say it is now time for bbc2 to regain the yoof crown _ unless five tries to create further competiton with home and away and neighbours as lynchpins in what could be their yoof schedule

I think it will be tough for the BBC. As someone is quite a late teen everyone I know turns straight to T4/E4/C4 for what they watch. I they need presenters like Tim Lovejoy to make it - most definitely no former CBBC presenters. The problem with aiming at the teen market is it is quite a bit period of change. The difference between what you like when your 13,16 and 19 is huge. I think they need to rely mainly on acquisitions and try not to make it too middle class. BBC3 would be a great launching platform

The secret in getting teens interested in the news is NOT to make it "hip" and "accessible" but to get them to accept the news as it is currently presented. Efforts to do so with the Proms in 2002, where Marcus Bentley voiced the on-air promos, were typical of the populist streak the BBC was on at the time.
