It's a shame they don't show upscaled ITV SD instead of this when not showing HD programmes, given how poor the PQ is on standard ITV via DSat.

Channel 4's upscaled programming on their HD channel looks so much better than what we get on 104.

Still good news that I'll be able to get ITV HD once I get the new EPG... not that there's much to watch on it yet apparently.

You're absolutely right. Never having had Freesat - I was routing around ITV.com and found what they called the "Schedule" for ITV HD.

ITV HD Schedule

On average 1 show per day? They should be ashamed of themselves! The BBC have an entire channel! No wonder it runs via the red button and doesn't have a position in the EPG - it doesn't even warrant a position!

They can only show programmes in HD that they have! The BBC are a few years ahead of ITV and so make a lot more in HD

Yep - and HD doesn't appear to be a major revenue stream for ITV yet.

That said, if they make ITV SD any worse on satellite they'll lose even more viewers...

That's fair.
You'd have thought, though, that they'd have done an upscale of ITV1, like Spencer suggested? It's not like ITV to not 'keep up with the Jones''. With BBC HD, C4HD and Five pushing for a slot on Freeview, I would have thought it would have been a priority.

Also, with all these new commissions and live studio shows - is there anything these days that isn't being filmed in HD?

Don't forget it took ITV/Granada until 2002 to get Emmerdale and Coronation Street in 16:9 production, God know how long it'll take them to be in HD, apparently Emmerdale will be HD soon from what I remember.
