Just came across this Press Release about the new 'graphics supplier' for Sky Sports News.
Quote:
READING, UK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chyron Corporation (OTC BB: CYRO) has today announced that Sky Sports News is investing in eight Chyron HyperX2 HD/SD switchable graphics platforms with Lyric PRO, and a CAMIO suite of Newsroom Graphics software for integration with Avid iNews for its daily, eighteen hour sport news channel. This major installation makes Chyron, Sky Sports News’ single prime supplier for its live studio graphics. The systems will go on air in August for the beginning of the 2007 Football Season.
As well as providing the broadest spectrum of studio graphics for this fast paced, live programming network, the HyperX2 will enable the channel's trademark 'L' shape look that combines results, news stories, statistics, tables and breaking news, from a variety of Data sources. The network will also use Chyron for the majority of its ‘Soccer Saturday’ programming.
As part of the project, Chyron’s UK office provided extensive training and design resources to assist Sky in migrating to the new platforms, enabling the rapid introduction of new design features such as 3D, which were unavailable with the previous platforms.
Launched at NAB2007, the HyperX2 is the new crown jewel in Chyron’s graphics system line, and combined with the Lyric PRO creation and playback software, the system provides Sky Sports News operators with access to the widest range of live broadcast graphics tools for tasks ranging from template creation and fulfillment through to advanced 3D animation. This integrated solution and the system’s exceptional processing power will provide immediate improvement to the workflow of creation and playback, and potential for future expansion. Combined with CAMIO for MOS newsroom graphics and iSQ to simplify playlist operations, Sky News is adopting the most advanced Newsroom Graphics Solution available.
“After meeting with all of the major graphics suppliers, we selected Chyron as the best-of-breed solution to provide an integrated, streamlined workflow. The HyperX2 platform has come of age and is mature enough to be deployed in a front-line Sports news environment,” commented Mark Crawford, Head of Broadcast Computing, BSkyB. He added, “We hope to migrate the remaining Soccer Saturday systems to Chyron during the new season, giving us a complete Chyron solution.”
“We are delighted to announce this partnership with Sky Sports News. The Chyron HyperX2 with Lyric PRO meets with the channel’s creative and workflow requirements. We are looking forward to seeing the channel maximise the system’s full potential, which will be apparent in the enhancement of graphics for its viewers,” commented David Ward, VP and general manager, Chyron EAME.

it seems a shame that they are changing the football graphics, which are the best graphics set they have had for a long time imho. Hopefully they will update the graphics across all the sports because at the minute its a bit of a mess, with the different football/rugby, cricket, golf and ssn sets.
I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the ssn studio set which has looked tired for a long time now, though the graphics were still feeling pretty fresh despite being on screen for over two years.

How comes the DOG only says 'Sky Sports', and not its respective channel?
Dan Lobb presenting from the 'upstairs' studio this morning as is the norm on Saturdays from 11.30-12 and 6-6.15 in order to prepare for Soccer Saturday - the scene behind him was clearly very different from the window; a much darker background, in fact the dark blue colour used in the cap above looks to be the main colour of the new Sky Sports Centre, and therefore the main theme for SSN. However, obviously not much apart from the new colour can be seen, though I was unsure whether the new studio could be seen in the bottom left of the shot.
Im not able to capture, so if you want to see or capture, watch at 6pm tonight , on Sky Sports News!

I think it does not say what respective channel because that is just the graphic shown at the end of programmes, hence the "BSkyB" trademark.

It's from Sky Sports HD1 (hence the DOG also not being in the 4:3 safe zone). When the programme being shown on a Sky Sports HD channel is upscaled from SD, the DOG just says 'Sky Sports'.
