Sorry if this is old news but I noticed today that my Mum's non-sky+, non-HD Sky box (made by Thompson) no longer has listings for HD channels and also allows you to press red on [Sky owned] channels that aren't in your subscribtion, to add them.
The HD channels are still in the EPG but instead of programme information, it just says 'Phone 0870xxxx to upgrade' in both the full EPG and the mini EPG.
You have been able to press red to upgrade your package for quite a while (although the only way to downgrade is to phone up AFAIK) but previously only when there was an advert for E.G. Sky Sports shown on Sky News. Now you can go to Sky Sports (401) and you get the normal prompt to phone 0870xxxx to upgrade but suffixed with 'or press red'.
My Sky+ box (Pace V3) has not had this upgrade yet.
Not a major upgrade by any means. I guess getting rid of the HD channel listings is a memory thing as I know there was going to be a potential problem with older boxes and adding new channels.
The 'press red' feature is obviously beneficial to Sky as it means people can make impulse buying decisions much like on the Pay Per View system.
