Cool.

Well, we'll see how accurate it is on Friday I guess. Do you think that the rest of the relaunch will go ahead then, or will they keep us waiting a bit longer?

To be honest I am not sure they are going to dramtically alter the logo or not.
It is hard to tell.
It does not fit in with the rest of the design, it may just be adapted slightly.
As for the Sky News Student that was around well before talk of a re-launch so I don't think that will be the final logo.

The re-launch will probably not take place on Friday, they don't appear to have even started building anything yet.

You'll know when the re-launch is on its way as they'll be moving out of the studio that they're in now. This is to allow for the old set to go and the new one to be put in. The temporary studio used last time wasn't large enough for a soft area. But this time they may do everything in the temporary studio on Virtual Reality.

BTW the design on Cheshcats site of the sky news logo was shown to head of on-screen identity at sky news who said it wasn't anything like what was planned.

I thought they were building a new studio in the newsroom? If this is so, they won't need a temporary studio, and the background on the current one might not be a live one seeing as it's not actually a window.

Also, the view behind the presenters is more of the gallery than the newsroom so building would affect that area I would of thought.

They will be moving out of the studio that they're in now temporarily.

The view behind the presenters on the current set is live, the clever glass is only used for News at Ten.

And it is the newsroom that you can see behind the presenters, the gallery is on the opposite side of the studio.

Yes, let me clear this up.
The newsroom IS behind the presenters....
Think about it for a moment, what sort of camera on the planet could provide that sort of wide angle? It would be impossible.
The glass is only a few MM's thick and is simply 'turned on' for News at Ten.

Simon, I presume you work for/have links to Sky.
Any ideas what this re-launch is going to be like?
So far we have been told it is to be a very big change, then that they have scrapped plans, and now I am totally unsure!
Can you enlighten us a little?

Chesh, I don't work for Sky News myself, but know someone that does. I do know that their gallery will get a re-fit as well as a the studio getting a new set.

I know that the way sport is presented is going to be very different from what we've been used to presentation wise:)
