Hopefully it will fix some bugs.
My Sky+ freezes almost every other time I input a playback time. No way out except to turn off the box.
Very annoying if you are searching for a particular moment in for example a football match. It is easier just to keep it on fast forward.

My house will be very pleased when we don't have to hit the services button everytime my wife wants the subtitles on.

Some of these proposed changes are very welcome, especially with regards to being able to set a timeout for the
interactive red dot. I'd also like to see a setting that enables users to toggle a 16:9 version of the Sky Guide for
those of us who own widescreen TV's, alongside the existing 4:3 format for old style non-widescreen TV's.

This red dot thing, will it work like the current pressing back up (except it won't return until we change channels), so that you can still press red if you want to, but the prompt won't be on all of the time?
As for the Sky Guide 16:9 issue. Surely they should be able to do something that will work to whichever ratio you're TV is set into. So that if you're Sky Box is set to 16:9, then the Sky Guide (and perhaps other services like Sky Active) could be set that way.

The red dot killer will be a very welcome addition - I wonder though whether it will prevent the UKTV-esque red dot appearing before and after every ad break...
I'd still like to see a way of selecting AutoView from the search and scan banner though! Perhaps removing the "Yellow - Messages" option, which I'm pretty sure has never been used, and replacing it with such an option?

A widescreen version of Sky Active would not be possible unless they create two versions of the service but that would take too much time and messing around. A widescreen EPG would be possible though. If they create it in widescreen but have a code in the software to cut off the sides when used with a 4:3 TV it would be possible.
PE
if they deleted half the **** on Sky it would make plenty room.

These all sound like welcome changes - especially the quick access to subtitles.
I wonder if they might also somehow introduce changes to allow space for more channels - perhaps 4-digit channel numbers, as they appear to be rapidly running out of space at the moment.

There's room for a thousand channels - there's plenty of space left!!

I think it's only a thousand in pure channel number terms; and even then, those starting with zero are reserved for special uses, away from the public gaze.
I think the internal software will only currently support 512, though; the plan being to increase this to 1,024 in one of the software updates.
All to do with buffer sizes, don't you know!
