Got this from Digital Spy. Not completely confirmed but the rumours are strong. In this report, tweaking to the EPG's background is mentioned - how about a total revamp, the Sky EPG has been the same now for YEARS!

Arrow Digital Spy says_

New Sky digibox software is to be released later this month according to information posted by a member of the Digital Spy forums.

The download will be rolled out to digiboxes from March 14th onwards and is thought to include the following features:

Blocking of specific channels at all times or only after 8pm (e.g. due to adult content) by using a PIN.

An option to highlight channels which offer audio description or subtitles.

Subtitles able to be turned on or off from the Search And Scan Banner.

Now and Next listings for the radio stations.

The ability to set the interactive symbol (red dot) to automatically disappear after 30 seconds. However when viewers change channels it will reappear but only for another 30 seconds.

Another download is also scheduled for a later date but no timescale has been given. This will include slight modifications to the EPG background, a facility to remove the adult channels from the pay-per-view listings via a menu and changes to the radio area of the EPG.

It would be nice if they just refreshed the branding, e.g. the new style they're now using on the Sky website and the customer channel (999).

Why do the words "Digital Spy" and "rumours" seem to be the key words? Laughing

Because it is on the DS homepage.

According to Digitalspy, there is a tweak to the EPG background planned later on in the year, but with no known date.

I would like to see a fresh, new, modern EPG on Sky. The one they have is getting a little out of date now.

Well, I rather hope this might be true, as the one key switching on and off of subtitles and the ability to kill the red dot automatically after thirty seconds are functions I'll be very pleased to see.

Surely it's the way it works, not the way it looks that is important. It works perfectly well there's no need to change it just for the sake of it.

It does work perfectly and that's why Sky hasn't changed it. It's just that the current one looks a bit dull now, it has been used for 7 years now (although with some colour and logo changes).

Will you need the Digibox connected to the phone line to recieve this?

No, it's sent over the dish.
