Here they do it, for instance when there is a short sting for the round up of the days golf news, they switch the sky letters to white on the dark green flip-background.

It's now changed to a stacked version with the NFL shield and NFL written next to it.
The only reason I can think of that the NFL dog is the only single line variant is to make it easier to move around to avoid Fox/CBS/NBC logos. In the past aligning it left or right doesn’t always work and they have to shift it up or down occasionally too.

I'm calling these versions of the logos "White Sky" - and one does exist for SS - so it begs the question why they didn't use it there...
