I’m pretty sure the poster is referring to the graphics and branding rather than editorial content.

Although I think the look is a bit on the dull side and without a particularly modern feel either.

Ah I see.

I should probably have clarified. I meant the graphics. In terms of content, Sky News UK shouldn't get any ideas from Sky News Australia.

Aren't they two separate entities?

No connection now other than the brand licensing agreement. Though Sky News Australia may still air the UK channel overnight.

Then perhaps it should be rebranded as Fox News Australia?

You sure about that?

Take note of how people treat Fox News here in the states...

They simulcast overnight and also use Sky News UK copy during daytime hours.

Incidentally Foxtel have a full simulcast of Sky News UK, which is branded as such on-air in addition to the main Australian service, which comes in handy when Sky News Australia turns into the alt-right opinion format at night.

There is another similarity with Sky News UK, the sports bulletins are branded Fox Sports News and use their staff to present them.

Weather bulletins are provided by the Sky News Weather Channel, which is also a full time channel that broadcasts in SD.

Incidentally viewers in the UK can pay to watch Sky News Australia, where it's branded Australia Channel.

The point is opinion programming on Sky News Australia is more inline with Fox News than anything on Sky News UK. It’s difficult to see that Comcast would be comfortable with their brand being being used on such a right wing outlet. So it really depends on how watertight the licensing agreement is.

I think some out of watershed rules have changed today, as Sky Atlantic and Sky Comedy are now showing adult content in the day (such as Game Of Thrones and Curb Your Enthusiasm), I’m away from home so I can’t see how it is on screen, but one would assume they’re PIN protecting these programmes akin to Sky Cinema showing mature films during the day.

This has been allowed since 1st Jan 2019, but Sky haven't taken advantage of it until today.
