What happened to Sky actually saying the would be getting rid of a few channels like they said they would. They are only adding more.

When did they say they would?

They never said they were getting rid of their channels.

To help pay for the additional investment in top-tier exclusive rights and originals, Darroch said that Sky would reduce its investment in second-tier sports rights “whether or not they’re delivering value”, and reduce the volume of niche movies and linear entertainment channels on the service.

It seems more like they’re less willing to carry 3rd party linear only channels who don’t offer a robust on demand proposition with it - probably why they’re no longer willing to subsidise channels like TCM HD. I never presumed they would not continue investing in their own channels or partnerships with others.

Sky Two changing to Sky Replay is apparently happening on 27th August. Sky had registered a trademark for the name just before they had registered Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries. There won't be a big change to the schedule at the start but it will evolve over time. It won't have a HD version either it seems.

No logo?

Small curiosity, but I wonder what colour they might use for it

Don't worry, there'll be a dozen mocks of it soon enough.

Sky Replay and Pick seem like very similar peas in the same pod. I'm interested to see what distinguishes the two (if anything).

What's the point of keeping it called Sky One then if Sky Two is being renamed? Just call it Sky Channel or something.

Putting "One" after it reminds people that it's the flagship channel, presumably. Also, other names could end up being a bit ambiguous as "it's on Sky Channel" could mean it's on (a renamed) Sky One, or it could be on any of their other channels...

Also "Sky Channel" is a s**t name.

One is available to subscribers, so can have a full range of what is available - the other is free to air, and they won't want to (/be licensed to) make their top programmes available.

Sky Replay is channel 145, and yes, that launch date is correct. Sky Sports Mix moves to channel 416.

Gee, I just wonder how Sky One's gonna work namewise without a Sky Two... Rolling Eyes
Ahh, the joys of TV.
