Heard ‘rumours’ of something like this happening at the end of last month. Suggestion was an overflow Football, RU and RL channel. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a totally new channel to enable the space vacated on Arena and Action to be repurposed for these overflow requirements. Things are going to get cosy at the weekend now Sky has exclusive SPFL coverage without additional capacity.

It’s going on Channel 407. The next free slot in the 400s on the EPG is 416 so a bit of a boot down for Action if it’s not a rebrand of that.
Could it rebrand as Sky Sports NBA once the NFL is done. IIRC didn't they have Sky Sports USA a couple of years back which covered the end of the NFL and start of the NBA season?
I guess in reality Sky Sports don't show much more sports than when it was SS1-5, but although needing alot of filler the individual bespoke channels just makes it look like they're offering much more than they actually are. NFL itself of course is generally only live on Sundays in primetime, then overnight on Sun/Mon/Thu, with a handful of Saturday games and others like Thanksgiving and Christmas, so like SSF1 they've a schedule to fill for most of the weeks with replays etc. I'm guessing some of the additional content will come from the NFL Network.
The promotional material states the channel is an 'in season' channel so it likely will be a temporary name between September and February whilst the NFL is on and then from February to September it will revert to being called Action again. For the next 5 years.
Oh dear. We've been on this merry-go-round before of 'Sky One Mix', 'Sky Mix'.
Sky One already has a +1 channel, a catch-up service and an extensive library of box sets. Either put money in to Sky Two, or put it out of its misery. It's been on the gurney en route to the morgue for years.
