Actually, Comedy Central was originally formed from the Paramount UK Partnership, which involved both Paramount UK Pictures and Sky, back when the channel was launched as Paramount Channel (not to be confused with Paramount Network, the current incarnation with the Paramount name). I'm pretty sure Sky also own part of Nickelodeon UK, so ViacomCBS and Sky sort of have a relationship despite Sky launching their own comedy channel.
As for SyFy, I think it's pretty obvious why their channel is slick, as NBCUniversal (Comcast) already own Sky and Sky has somewhat of a control within the channel. Their social feeds were merged into Sky TV.
Recently signed up for Now TV (plenty of time on my hands!). One thing that’s struck me - Sky branded channels are well-presented as always, but the channels like Comedy Central and SyFy are remarkably slick as well. Do Sky have something to do with their running? Was wondering if maybe there was some sort of investment in them from Sky in order to bolster their entertainment offering.
