Oh dear. Not a stellar start. Oddly, Parks & Rec and 30 Rock wouldn't exactly be suitable for daytime broadcast normally. So they are going to cut the show to ribbons and not give it a late night showing so people can see it unedited? Not a great start.

Hopefully unedited versions will be available on-demand

30 Rock has been available on demand on box sets on Sky (under the Sky One banner) for about a year and they seem to be unedited. I've seen a couple of press releases trumpeting the box sets of quite a few shows (30 Rock and Parks & Rec included) under the Sky Comedy banner, so even when the daytime versions are cut, the on demand offering should hopefully be ok

Seems a bit strange abandoning the Sky One Facebook and Twitter pages by renaming them. I don't think Sky would want to rename Sky One as the brand has existed for quite a while.

Unless Sky ends up creating a pseudo-Canal+ situation, where the main channel is the same name as the provider.

It’s makes perfect sense at the moment if you have a million followers on Sky One’s twitter but only 20,000 on Sky Comedy, if you want to promote a Sky Comedy programme it’s only going to hit 20,000, rather the million. It’s also going to be cheaper to run one page than several.

Well since Sky launches a lot of channels, it does make a lot of sense in the long term. Saves the hassle of creating a new "Sky Comedy" handle which some may not even follow.

Still, I feel that it could alienate the viewers of Sky One, almost convincing them Sky One is now Sky "Gone"

So the US chat shows getting another scheduled slot on a channel. Let's see how long that lasts this time.

Do Sky channels usually carry teleshopping?

Seth Meyers is shown on CNBC as well. And The Daily Show on Comedy Central.

All we need now is Kimmel, and Colbert. (I’m sure we used to show Kimmel over here).

I’m pretty sure I saw Kimmel on CNBC as well but maybe it’s the European version at 19.2e

Kimmel is free-to-air on CNBC Astra 19.2+Hotbird at those times when CNBC Astra 28.2 (UK/Ire) shows Seth Meyers. The only major variation I can see within CNBC's feeds in Europe.

I remember the days when CNBC Europe used to have a decent US talk show line up with Jay Leno's Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien's Late Night on for 45 minute editions each weeknight, and best of editions at weekends.

CNBC Europe then took at chainsaw to their talk show line up and booted Conan to weekends only, having Jay Leno remain on weeknights, but brutally edit his show into a 26 minute edition, meaning nearly all the comedy bits were dumped with only a trimmed monologue and guest interviews remaining - with a token "Headlines" comedy bit added now and again, usually trimmed too.

Why can't channels just air these talk shows daily and leave them alone?

Because hardly anyone watches them?

CNBC Europe only got Leno and Conan because NBC Europe closed down, they transferred over at the point of closure. I’m amazed that both of the Tonight and Late Night are still on CNBC over 20 years later. One can only assume they are extremely cheap filler for CNBC.

Hardly a stretch for them, as CNBC is owned by the same company who make Tonight Show and Late Night. I doubt it would cost them a fortune.
nwtv2003 and Gary Baldy gave kudos

I seem to recall Tonight with Jay Leno forming part of the launch lineup on Ftn.
