New "Search for a Musical Star" programme for BBC1

Did anyone else hear Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber on yesterday's Simon Mayo programme on Radio 5 Live mentioning that he was in advanced discussions with the BBC about searching for an unkown singer to be Maria in his new West End production of "The Sound of Music"? He said this programme was likely to be formally announced around March.

Just another "Search for a Superstar" format or do we think this is genuinely different enough show that only the BBC as a Public Service Broadcaster could do ? I know what I think ... Rolling Eyes

Indeed! They did "Musicality" and "Operatunity". Exactly my point really.

Yeah, Channel 4 was the first do a real genuine talent search which didn't exploit the contestants our the viewers. They were both very entertaining.
