It really need more than just four weeks off. At the very least they should give it the full 6-7 weeks of the summer holidays, but it really could do with around three months off.

It's also timed they dropped the Saturday episodes IMO.

I agree with you there. They chose to use the daytime format, not the big-money primetime format, so they shouldn't try and use it on Saturdays (albeit at around the same time as on weekdays).

If it had used the Australian format, it might have been acceptable. But, as it happens, they didn't, and the format in use at the moment has developed a sort of cult following.

I'd have also thought considering how low it rates on a Saturday, and now they've not got the premium rate income to fund the prizes, that it would be more cost effective to axe the Saturday edition too - or just replace it with a repeat of the "game of the week" or something.

Talking of the competition, interesting this week Noel saying he's happy it was gone and never felt it should be included in the first place as he felt it didn't sit well in the show.

I'd completely disagree with that actually - I thought the Deal or No Deal viewer comp fitted better into the show than almost any other viewer competitions around. It was a neat variation of the main game, and wasn't breaking away from it with a stupid A, B, C or D qualifying question - and when it went it did feel like something was missing from the show.

Perhaps if this "Noel's HQ" programme or whatever Edmonds' new project is, takes off then Deal will cut down a bit. Obviously that's on Sky One but even still.

I can't see Channel 4 axing the Saturday edition anytime soon as it's usually the second most watched programme on the entire day for the channel. On some occasions, it's the most watched, usually where there is no decent films in primetime.

The show won't be cut down for Noel's other shows. As he uses the time when DoND isn't recording (June-September), where he records Are You Smarter.

I don't think Channel 4 want to give the show a longer break as the show is still doing strong for them in the afternoons. All five shows are still in the weekly top 30 channels. Compared to Win My Wage last year and Richard & Judy now, they were/are struggling to appear in the top 30.
