A documentary airs on Border. Wales and Scotland continue with their usual programmes "Waterfront" and "Politics Now"

Notice they arn't corporate in anyway with different programmes unique to each region

what a sodding surprise. How Border were ever awarded a franchise is beyond me. They're pathetic.

Uh-oh. I liked the slightly dry, relatively heavyweight TTTV offering which hasn't changed much since Point Of Order in the 80s. Hopefully this little snippet isn't a sign of a downward trend in quality.

Grampian will have Politics Now.....quite a good show for SMG these days!!

I thought nowadays Border was split into 2 with the Scottish side taking programmes from SMGplc and the English side taking programmes from Granada (oops I Mean ITVplc). I, also, thought that the one and only true regional programme on Border was the corporate bland evening regional news and other regional news outputs.

I did hear a rumour a few months ago that SMG were trying to gain the scottish side of Border and operate it as SMGScottish, whilst the English side was to be tied up with either ITVGranada or ITVTyne Tees and all they were waiting for was approval from the ever condesending OFCOM!!!!!! Does anyone know if the rumour was true, and if so has there been any ruling on it???

TELEVISION
No, Border Scotland only takes sport programming and special event programming from SMG. Otherwise it is all programming from ITV plc, same as Border England / IoM.

Blending politics and entertainment - perfectly natural. "Sir David Frost talks the health service with Conservative Leader David Cameron and Tony from Eastenders latest role in panto Peter Pan."

Cool - but whatever happened to the fantastic Peter Hayes?

This just sounds laughable. "Dave and Andy from the Queen's Head discuss this week's hot topics - dole scroungers and black asylum seeking scrotes."

Could be worse but "Around the House" sounds like something that should be presented by Kim And Aggie. The "eighteen or eighty" bit sounds a bit desperate too.

10 out of 10 for Granada's play on title here.

Sounds like a programme that will actually focus of politics - probably the best of the lot.

Not that much different to what their Sunday programme used to be?

Again seems fairly bog standard.

All gathered from the last week's newspapers no doubt.

Here's hoping for Trailblazers with Heather Larcombe!

If it's anything like Bendall At Bedtime (Westcountry) used to be, it'll be fantastic. Although they also interviewed an MP in a lapdancing club, which I doubt will happen on Last Orders...

If only Granada's Party People was hosted by Anthony Wilson then it would all make sense... Smile

And what are UTV showing in this slot? Movies Games and Videos' sister programme, Cinema Cinema Cinema. Oh well, could have been The Planet's Funniest Animals...

It is very typical of the angle ITV Yorkshire seem to be taking with regards to politics lately. Asking real people/panels of locals etc.

Last Orders sounds identical to "The Local" from about 5 years ago. I'm sure all YTV viewers will remember it. Christa Ackroyd and Mike Morris used to be joined by some 'pub regulars' to discuss topical issues on the set of The Woolpack with Mike 'Carpets' Smith playing the landlord.

And your comment about the title of the Tyne Tees show. They have used the title 'Around the House' for many years. YTV used to use this title as well

Interesting in most regions it's put on after Soccer Night.

As quite a few regions use the main local newsroom for their studio based programmes, I guess there could be some problems here - though of course, neither programme has to go out live.

Yes, Around The House replaced Calendar Commentary (YTV) and Point Of Order (TTTV) in Jan 1996. It was part of Gyngell's effort to get the programmes exactly the same across the two stations (the titles and music were the same for a while -- a standard Adrian Birch keyboard piece) -- abandoned not long after.

It's not the greatest title in the world, but the programme itself has a good reputation. I hope this continues.
