Well the UKtv network are partially funded by the BBC aren't they, so if successful I'm sure BBC Two will grab the repeat rights sooner then you can say 'gironimo'
Plus it's been known for a while that the Beeb have been quoted in saying that "they are no longer interested in the audience Red Dwarf creates". You can imagine how many people didn't like that comment!
Unlike other BBC2 comedies at least Red Dwarf does create an audience. I never understood why the BBC didn't fund the movie, it would have made a hell of a lot more money than Revolutionary Road.

*cough* Hyperdrive *cough*
I think their issue was it still being risky turning what was classed as a cult sitcom [even though its audience was nowhere near cult sized] into a hollywood movie. At that point there wasn't Sex & the City etc making films, so you never know. IF a Series IX was made, it could always flow into the eventual film. Apparently the script is still unused, so don't expect these specials to be stealing parts.

Agreed. This was BBC2's best show. With the loss of this and all the other good shows to BBC1, BBC2 really is a waste of space. Top Gear is now the only thing which elevates this channel above Sky1.
I must admit that when I heard Dave was bringing it back and the original plans for the show that I wasn't impressed. Now though that it will be three full episodes plus repeats of classic episodes, I'm very excited about it. Red Dwarf and Doctor Who over Easter!!!
Plus Dave have added a couple more location pics... the number of locations being used is quite action packed for just 3 episodes. In SFX magazine's article there was yet another location [a diving bell].
It ain't CGI cause there's pics of the cast between takes on the set aswell... I think it's very good. It has a Series III feel to it, but with elements from latter series added in aswell.
Plus the Astro-Navigation for Dummies book is just smegging great
