And here's a link to the first official press image of the Red Dwarf crew... minus the watermark Dave slapped on the site version. God bless firebug as an addon! Laughing

Looks like they've removed that version of the photo and replaced it with a watermarked version...

That was the end of Red Dwarf VII - hurry up - you have until Easter to watch VIII!

Or you could just pretend it didn't happen.

Might be worth doing that with VII as well, come to think of it.

Tikka To Ride was good though & Stoke Me Clipper wasn't bad either. However the rest of Series VII was quite poor (although the Munchkin song is great)

I preferred VIII to VII mainly as Captain Hollister was back in the show but I got a bit fed up with the whole "Prison Camp" bit by the end TBH.

Having just re-watched Series 7, i think that Tikka to Ride and Stoke me a Clipper are fantastic episodes. Tikka to Ride especially is fantastic comedy mixed with drama.

However you can tell that they'd spent all their money after that, because afterwards we got the likes of 'Duct Soup', an episode which is often prescribed to insomnia patients. Bl**dy awful!

You think the transmitted episode of Duct soup is bad, the extended version is worse Shocked

Yeah, it was that one i watched on the DVD. The only funny bit about the episode is the DVD commentary, where Chris Barrie (Rimmer) is constantly mentioning just how unfunny the show actually is Laughing

Yes, but the thing is, about Duct Soup; the thing you have to remember about Duct Soup; Duct Soup ... Duct Soup was a HELLAVALOT better than Ouroboros.

Seriously, Ouroboros was more fail than a Daily Mail article on the future of the BBC being used as a cross-ocean boat and falling apart as soon as it touched the water.

I actually like the latter series... its production values are greater, which too many rose-tinted glasses wearing fans are nit-picky about. The writing is like a 'best of' from all previous series. And it's an interesting series to show almost the alternative plot to Dwarf, what would've happened if everyone wasn't wiped out by the radiation leak.

Sure, perhaps not all the episodes were as consistant as say Series V or VI, but I do feel people slate them way too much, and in some cases only slate them because they feel they have to as fans. Laughing

The look of the later series is brilliant as you say. Series 7 especially was so far ahead of its time. Single camera video looked really naff up until then, but Red Dwarf really kicked it up a notch. I think it looks better than Doctor Who does now! The brilliant lighting helped that. The only times it falters is when they use digital zoom, which they used a lot. On 1997 TVs with analogue reception you probably wouldn't have seen it, but on the DVDs it's really noticeable.

I remember series 8, just forgot how it ended (if it was 1998 I was kind of loosing my job at the same time so was probably a bit pre-occupied) Confused

what was oroboros all about then, the titles rings a bell
