Very Happy Great news, hope it's up to the standards of Series III-VI

This was announced AAAAAAGES ago, but not 4 episodes exactly. It's specifically 2 episodes, and 2 specials [being a 'behind the scenes' of the episodes, and then a special best-of but done in an original way rumoured to be live].

But yeah a lot of people have been excited about this for some time now. Think the official site announced it around September? Either way I'm just keeping an eye out for tickets Laughing

I missed that - I haven't been watching the official site. Still there are some interesting comments from @bobbyllew on his twitter stream about putting the head back on for the first time in a while, meeting up with the other guys and tickets.

Any news on the script? Is it a reboot (it must be a reboot of some sort considering there's no Holly or Kochanski in it), is it a continuation? How are they going to explain the fact that the cast are a lot older and fatter?

Don't know, as far as I can remember from interviews it will be that the last decade has past in narrative aswell as normal time. So that will explain their aging...

As for no Holly [and thank GOD no Kochanski... sorry Chloe!] all I can think is that the boys have ended up back on Starbug in the parallel universe or something? I'm presuming Rimmer will once again be a hologram as a result of being stuck on our universes Dwarf as it perished.

But this is all just opinion of course, don't go thinking it's fact or anything Laughing

Craig Charles let this one slip at a convention-type thing. It's called Red Dwarf Unplugged , and involves them redoing scenes from memory on a black set, in a Whose Line Is It Anyway -type format.

No disprespect to Chloe, I don't think it's her fault at all but the Kochanski character was just badly conceived second time round, for a start the original was shorter & Scottish Laughing

Red Dwarf is returning to Earth for a brand new two-part series exclusive to Dave. Exciting eh? Yep, for 8 series Dave Lister wanted to return to his home planet and now, at last, he will. Reuniting Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten, Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will premier on Dave on Friday 10th April at 9pm.

Now Friday 10th April may seem like a long time to wait which is why we’re making www.joindave.co.uk your home for weekly updates from the production set. Every Wednesday at noon we promise to reveal an exclusive snippet of news from the production alongside trailers, behind the scenes exclusives, shiny new pictures and regular competitions. We can’t wait.

Written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will begin filming on Monday 16th February. Over the Easter Weekend 4 brand new episodes will air – the 2 episodes of Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will be followed by Red Dwarf: Unplugged which will deliver the cast of Red Dwarf as they’ve never been seen before – no sets, no effects… and no cue cards. The weekend will climax with Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth , a behind the scenes special from the new production.

So until Easter be sure to log-on to www.joindave.co.uk every Wednesday at Noon for your weekly Red Dwarf fix

They've done a Web 2.0 on it. Does this mean Kryten will start poking Rimmer on Facebook?
