I had a very quick tour around Yalding House last summer - refurbishment work was well underway on the new studio (I forget its name), and they'd just finished ripping everything out while I was there.

The desks are adjustable - so the presenter can move it to a height that suits them. Some people like presenting while standing up - but I think that not allowing the presenters to have seats would contravene the BBC's rigorous health and safety guidelines..

Trust Moyle's to be reading TV Forum while he's working. Tut!

Chris Moyles reading TV Forum? Nah.

Although it has been said that he is a bit of a radio anorak.

People are reading too much into this (tho I presume the geek's comment was tongue in cheek), I think Moyles was just standing while they took the image which I copied.

I went round there a few years ago too. Is the 'Live Lounge' still a bit of corridor with a couple of sofas in it?

When I saw it, it wasn't just a bit of corridor - but was also being used as a production suite. There were a few PCs in it being used for audio editing.

There is a lounge, though, which was done up in some rather kitschy 70's decor for some Colin and Edith feature, apparently. It was seen in a recent edition of Click Online, as it happens.

Ah, they must have done it up / moved it since I was in.

Incidentally I was instructed that under no circumstances should I look through the studio window at Chris Moyles whilst he was on air, as he'd kick off if anyone dared to look at him!

Maybe he'd turn to stone?

While I was there, I got kicked out of a studio by Edith Bowman. That's my claim to fame.

the 'new studio' is Y4 (yalding studio 4) - theres always been a studio there however it was more used as a production/prep studio than an on air studio. It was taken offline a couple of months ago to go through the refurb.

Y3 (the studio Moyles used to come from and through the glass to the left of where the presenter sits in the new studio) got taken offline on Friday and will now go through the refurb.

I'm not entirly sure what the plans are, but I'd imagine Y2 (the studio in that Colin & Edith webcam shot) would be refurbed after Y3, with Y1 being the final studio to be refurbed.

I also believe the Live Lounge will be upgraded as well.
and at a quarter of a million pounds each studio, its not cheap!
