Best thread I could find for this...

Today, I popped across the pennines to have a dayout in Oldham....

And passing a Dixons at 1.30pm, I noticed North West Tonight on a TV in the window. (Obviously in the wrong aspect ratio as they always are on widescreen sets in TV shops)

Was that Martin Henfield presenting today?

Honestly! She drives a yellow Saab soft top, I've been in it!

Ahh fame.

Cor! Were you excited?

Yes that was Martin Henfield. That was North West Today! He very rarely presents the main bulletins, he does the 2225 one. He did the lunchtime and late ones today. Gordon Burns was back for 3.25 and 1830!

Can anyone come up with a worse name than Tina Bangs???
Mathew Amrolliwola takes some beating!
Reminds me of the (obviously made up) travel news reporter in the West I heard, who called herself 'Pippa Horn'.

What about the Canadian candidate for IOC president...

Well, I can't say whats happening on NW Today/Tonight. We're going through a strange presenter phase!

Here's what it should be:

Breakfast: Nigel Jay
13.30: Gordon Burns
15.25: Gordon Burns
18.30: Gordon Burns
22.25: Martin Henfield

What it is:

Breakfast: Mon-Wed: Tina Bangs
Thurs: Nigel Jay
13.30: Mon: Gordon Burns
Tues: Tony Morris
Wed: Martin Henfield
Thurs: Tony Morris
Fri: probably Stuart Flinders (on location programme)
15.25: Mon: Gordon Burns
Tues: Tony Morris
Wed: Gordon Burns
Thurs: Tony Morris
Fri: Probably Stuart Flinders
18.30: Mon: Gordon Burns
Tues: Tony Morris
Wed-Thurs: Gordon Burns
Fri: probably Gordon on location, and Stuart in the studio

22.25 has been Martin all week.

Goodness knows why Gordon presents the evening and not lunch! Its hardly happened before, just on odd days here there and everywhere, but not all week!

Blimey, they're all over the place! What about the weather presenters? Whenever I've seen the lunchtime North West Today it has been Heather Stott doing the weather, and she always seems to overlap the place names and weather symbols. Very strange! You'd have 'Barrow-in-Furne' and then a rain cloud, or a temperature symbol next to 'arrington'! Apart from that it seems like a very good programme, shame it comes in all fuzzy on my TV so I have to make do with Wales Today.

NWT has two weather presenters. Generally, Heather Stott does the 1.30 news and the lovely Diane Oxberry does the 6.30 one. God knows what happens when both are off, has anyone ever seen anyone else do the weather on NWT?

And yes, it's a great programme. I've just asked them for work experience with them, and hopefully they'll give me a chance!

I hope you do get work experience, but if you're under 18 you won't - I tried!

Bugger! I'm only 17! Well I told them that I'm gonna apply to Oxford Uni so perhaps that may sway them a bit.

Well I predicted wrong again!!

It was Tony Morris all the way through today for 1330, 1525 and 1830, not Stuart Flinders!!

Poor Tony's virtually done a whole week. The best thing is, yesterday, he did 1330 and 1525, but Gordon was back for 1830!! And they had Tony doing a live report during the programme!
