Well it looks like the Paul O'Grady 'overlap' will only last one week. ITV scheduling episodes of 'Wycliffe' from April 3rd.

In other defection news, was reading today that Anthony Worrall Thompson has defected from BBC to ITV to front new weekend and weekday cookery shows.

This was an interesting quote :
"An insider at the BBC said there were plans to schedule repeat of his old show up against his new one"

Not just a tactic employed by ITV then Wink

The sooner ITV stop flogging these repeats to death, the sooner I'll be happier. Its driving me mad - all these banners "COMPETITION CLOSED" "PREVIOUS COMPETITION WINNER". Mad

Win a nodding Buster....or a nodding Charles Allen if you're feeling grumpy!

So they can't even be bothered to do some dodgy editing!

I'm sure Paul O'Grady did at least one week of compilation episodes which could easily have filled some of the slots, with the numerous weeks of Des and Mel compilations filling the others!

i liked his rant tonight when he said 'go on sack me, see what you do then?" or words to that effect

rather like a self fulfilling prophecy

Is Paul still doing Richard and Judy tomorrow?

Teletext are reporting that the new Paul O'Grady show have pulled off an amazing scoop - an exclusive interview with Lily Savage!

I saw Paul at my local supermarket again today. I was just getting some drinks and stuff and he just appears. So much I want to say to him but I just don't have the bottle! He had a trolley full.

well if its a toss between Paul O'Grady repeats on ITV and new epiosdes on C4 then C$ win the day. I now feel that C4 have the strongest late afternoon/early evning line-up of any of the main channels and possibly the best ever...

330pm Countdown
415pm Deal or No Deal
5pm Richard and Judy/Paul O'Grady
6pm The Simpsons
630pm Hollyoaks

All they need now is to review the schedule between 1pm and 330pm and lets see if C4 can take even more viewers away from inept ITV

Wasn't all dog food was it?

Reminds me of Les Dennis on 8 out of 10 Cats a couple of weeks ago saying how when he's in the supermarket people seems to thing there is a "Celebrity Asda" where stars do their shopping - with Sean Lock quick to quip there actually is - it's just no one told him about it!

Well, I know Paul was near the bread and cakes aisle at one point. I think he saw me look at him as he had a sort of "oh god, another one's recognised me" expression. He doesn't tend to hide his appearance in public like many 'celebs' so he's instantly recognisable - even though most people pretend its not really him! He always wears a long grey or black moleskin coat. (I think New & Lingwood springs to mind).

A good interview with Paul in The Sun today. He says he's always late for meetings as he gets chatting to fans, and doesn't mind being papped as it makes him feel like he's in The Avengers.

Of course there are references to ITV - he says it's ridiculous how the repeats have been just slapped on air with guests referring to things on TV two years ago and competitions being closed.

He says he will get ITV stars - but only after they've done the round of chat shows. He says though he won't plug their shows - if he gets a Corrie star on he won't even mention Corrie!

Any news on the guest line-up in the first couple of weeks?

P.S. Richard and Judy said they'd be back on 19th June.

I couldn't help noticing Paul opened his heart to both 'The Mirror' & 'The Sun' -again- today about the death of his best friend/manager/ex lover last year.

Has he got a show to plug or something?

Indeed, and according to DigitalSpy, one of them caught him on a good day

Paul O'Grady has announced that he wants to end his feud with ITV.

The chat show host signed a deal with Channel 4 in January this year, and relations with ITV have been strained since. The network claimed that it owned the image rights to his dog Buster, leading to O'Grady announcing at an awards ceremony that his enemies at ITV should turn the page and "p*** off".

"It wasn't a rant or malicious," Paul told The Mirror. "I was called foul-mouthed, but I don't do self-censorship. Anyone who saw it or knows me understands it wasn't bitter. I'd like to make it clear I owe a great deal to ITV and I miss the fabulous people I worked with there."

O'Grady admitted that he has reconsidered his behaviour after reflecting on the death of his manager and best friend, Brendan Murphy.

"When Murphy was dying, they were great to me," he explained. "The way I feel now is: let's stop the mudslinging, call the dogs off and be pals again. It's all been a bit like a lover's tiff. OK, there's nothing I enjoy more than a feud, but I don't hold grudges. If Murph's death taught me anything, it's that life's too short to get worked up."

Maybe he's realised that prime time ITV show he was going to do actually was going to be quite good?

Either way, I think we've heard enough tabloid stories about Paul O'Grady to last a lifetime in the past 3 months. I'll be glad on Monday when his new show actually starts so we can go back to actually watching him not just reading about what he may or may not be saying
