Nicky will probably tell you when he/she reads this topic.

I know what you mean Alex. In the US, on CNN especially they keep anchors in the same places for ages.
For example, Bernard Shaw, who has now retired, had presented All Politics for ages.
I think as a rule they keep presenters in the same slots for as long as possible.
I am not sure about News24 as it has only had one proper re-launch. But whenever Sky re-launch they normally give the presenters a bit of a shuffle.
Although Kay Burley and Jeremy Thompson have presented Live At Five for about 3 years now.
Whereas on the other hand, in the space of just one on screen look, Bob Friend and Anna Botting have moved from Live at Five to News At Ten and now onto Today, where they are far better suited.
I know Jane Hill used to do the 12am - 6am shift on News24, yet now she is presenting in 'prime time', as in 4pm - 7pm.

They have to shuffle them to make a change as news readers can become boring in the same slot all the time.

I wish that Matthew Amroliwala and Jane Hill were swopped with Bill Turnbull and Valerie Sanderson. I also think that Chris Eakin should be the evening presenter with Sian Williams. Lyse Doucet and Peter Coe should be brought from BBC World and George Eykyn could do Brenda Paterson's shift on Sunday. Why isn't Chris Eakin a main presenter of BBC News 24 - he only fills in for people, he doesn;t have his own bulletin. What else does he do? He isn't freelance?

The shift Chris Eakyn used to do has now been filled by breakfast so he lost his regular slot. News presenters do many things besides presenting. They mainly research things and do actually work in the newscentre as well with all the other journalists.

Thank goodness Clarence Mitch*ll isnt on overnight on N24 anymore...I hope - he has such a boring voice, with the same monotinous tone.

Ragai Omah is even worse. Reporters like Ragai and Clarence should stay away from the desk, and go back to what their good at - reporting from the field.

Thank goodness theres now a new face, with Heather Macarthy. I still prefer foreign girl Lucy Hockings who was doing the night shift a while back. Is her accent Australian or South African?

I wouldn't saw that they become boring after a while -- I mean, if you get really good presenters with good chemistry between their co-presenter and the reporters etc, it can be something to look forward to, seeing those same presenters at their time slot every day. Besides, The 1,6,and 10 O'Clock news presenters have been the same for a while and no one has been complaining that they're bored of them.

Regional news presenters are an example of this. Some presenters have presented together for years and people would think it was strange to change them.

I don't like Huw Edwards. The Six O'Clock News should have 2 presenters again, with it being the main news bulletin:

Nicholas Witch*ll & Sian Williams
George Alagiah & Jennie Bond
Huw Edwards & Fiona Bruce

How come the forum puts an asterisk in place of the 'e' in h*ll - I only typed Nicholas Witch*ll !!!

Anyway, I think Bill Turnbull is a grand presenter! Ben Geoghegan's a bit boring. Yesterday, Bill said 'Its quater past - headlines' - I love it when they improvise like that!
