New Names for ITV Regions

I was thinking about what alternative names I would give ITV regions if I was in charge of ITV.

Meridian - Coastal (as in the south coast)

Grampain - H&I TV (Highlands & Islands TV)

Granada - NWTV (North West Televison)

HTV - Wales & West

Does anyone have any others?

ITV [Insert Region / Scotland / Wales / Ireland]

Simple.

I was thinking more along the lines of a new name rather than just the current geographical thing:

i.e.

"Next here on Coastal it's Emmerdale"

I am not very good at explaining things and this sounded a lot better in my head

ITV1: S.H.I.T.

I've got one for Northern Ireland, UTV, nice and simple. That is until ITVplc buy the Northern Ireland ITV Franchise.

I wonder if ITV plc will eventually get rid of all remaining remnants of the former regional company names, in favour of purely geographical suffixes? (e.g. "ITV Anglia" becomes "ITV East", etc)

I think this will happen eventually. I also think that the non-conforming ITV channels (eg Scottish TV) will eventually become more part of the network. Eg:

Scottish TV -----> ITV1 Scotland
Grampian TV -------> ITV1 Northern Scotland
UTV --------> ITV1 Northern Ireland
ITV Channel -----------> ITV1 Channel Islands

They are already part of the ITV Network, I don't see how it would benefit UTV (or any of the others) to change the brand, it's about the only good thing about the channel.

I don't think people living in Reading would appreciate Coastal!

Nice abbreviation.

Considering that the majority of viewers in the Grampian broadcast area are not in the Highlands and Islands, its not really the best name for it.

The current name, Grampian, sums up what it really cares about - Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Tough luck if you live in Tayside.

ITV Northern Scotland is a better description of what it should be.

From a realistic point of view, the Regions aren't going to be renamed, though their full time identities were dropped almost 3 years ago, Regions have been the same ever since, by this I mean we still have Granada, Central, Meridian etc operating in their repsective areas.

The only Regions where names may get changed are ones that cause confusion, for instance having ITV London is better than using the name ITV Carlton and LWT, same for ITV Wales, makes more sense than ITV HTV Wales. The only ones that I could see changing are the Nations.

For instance in probably the not too distant future, I could see the Scottish, Grampian and UTV names disappearing if (or more when) ITV Plc gobbles them up. Scottish & Grampian would probably become ITV1 Scotland (AIUI they can't just use ITV1 but have to go for the option alá Wales of keeping the nation's name) and UTV probably being ITV1 Northern Ireland rather than ITV1 UTV. That's what I could see happening.
