I thought the show was very poor. Compare ITV1's This Morning's (heated) debate on cloning this morning, with The Morning Shows poxy effort, and you'll get my point.
I saw the first twenty minutes of the show and whilst it wasn't brilliant it had potential. They seamed to have fused discussion and lifestyle fairly well. I'll return to watching The Wright Stuff when it returns but The Morning Show has the chance if it is a bit newsier it could be a good halfway house for most.
The studio tour was quite good aswell, I was quite supprised by all the technical information, its the sort of thing that you'd find on BBC Resources not a daytime TV site (not knocking it though, the BBC should do it for other shows aswell!).
Slightly off topic, but did you see the agony aunt and the doctor get very frustrated this morning on This Morning? It looked like they were going to explode!
And how long have they been doing a 5 minute chat at the start of the show, asking if they had a good Christmas etc??
I thought it was OK - a nice-looking, refreshing alternative to This Morning, with quite a lot of potential. The 1-hour length keeps it pretty fast-paced, but it also means that they can't go into anything in any great depth, which is a shame. I have to say I didn't really rate Robert Nisbet as a presenter - Nicki Chapman was much better than I expected, though.
I'd certainly rather watch that than the rest of BBC1's morning pap, so I'd like to see the programme extended. An alternative would be to 'wrap' The Morning Show around the rest of the morning's schedule - with the one-hour slot at 10, and then 5/10min bits in between the other programmes, and a 10/15min wrap-up before the 1 O'Clock News.
I saw it all and thought it was OK, although there is room fro improvment. Perhaps having a more of a discussion on the days issue would be good. Perhaps they need to do less, as it did seem abit rushed. It may have been better to have a fuller debate on the cloning issue with the issues explained more. - I didn't really feel I learnt anything new on the topic.
I liked Robert, I thought he was good and Nicki wasn't bad either, I think they will improve as the show goes on. I think they should move around the studio abit more, they did seem to be sitting on each other. I couldn't see the point in having a sepertae presenter at the video screen, surely Robert or Nicki could do that. I did like the use of the Liquid News wall, its a bit different.
There is an interesting article in the Media Guardian today about Daytime TV, it says that The Morning Show is one of three ideas that the BBC have for that slot and if it doesn't work then they will try the next idea. Anyway here's the link:
